The world of education is changing and at a pace we as educators are not familiar or where we feel terribly comfortable. As I think read and monitor trends I see the convergence of three certain challenges: The emergence of generative AI in the educational space, the growing prominence of big data, and the certain trend of a unique generation of students who will enter college this decade - Generation Alpha (the Screen Generation). This post shares a few key thoughts on what this could mean for education if managed responsible and soon!

If AI can be used for cheating, it reflects a flaw in the assessment, not in our students’ character. The challenge lies in integrating AI literacy into an already packed curriculum. However, the opportunity to foster critical thinking, problem-solving and ethical reasoning skills through AI education is entirely possible.

Michael Poore, former superintendent of several districts, says the value we place on education can only be enhanced by AI—it’s about engaging students, providing multiple resources, and supporting differentiated instruction. But at the end of the day, great teaching still makes the biggest impact. AI is just another tool to help us get there. Do you agree?
