🔐 Protecting more than just data this Mental Health Awareness Week. As we celebrate National Cyber Security Show, let's remember the human element behind the screens. In the fast-paced world of cyber security, mental well-being is paramount. This year's theme, 'movement: moving more for our mental health,' resonates deeply in the cyber security realm. Just as we move swiftly to protect data, let's also prioritise movement for our well-being. Whether it's a walk to clear our minds or a step towards seeking support, every movement counts. Together, let's build stronger, safer, and healthier cyber communities. #CyberSecurity #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #MomentsForMovement Mental Health Foundation

I don't think it is an accident that Cyber Security Awareness month and Mental Health Awareness month both fall during October. The cyber community is facing a mental health crisis when it comes to stress and burnout. Check out this short blog I wrote on the work we are doing at Ignis Arts Ballroom Studio when it comes to innovative, research backed ways to promote mental health by reducing stress and burnout through ballroom dance. "Today was the first day of the #2024MILCOM conference. As I listened to talks, the term "#resilient” was used repeatedly. We talked about #cyber resiliency. We talked about resilient AI/ML. And we talked about 5G resilience. While the technical innovations showcased in today’s workshops were impressive, October — designated as both #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth and #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth — serves as a vital reminder of another important type of resilience: mental health resilience" *The views in this blog post are my own and my personal company (Ignis Arts Ballroom Studio) and do not reflect the opinion of any other employer. #cyber #cyberworkforce #mentalhealth #cybercommunity .

This session was very interesting, it focussed on how we need to consider the psychological impacts in how we prevent and respond to cyber attacks to reduce victimisation. Not just from the perspective of the organisation. The scenario presented may result in shame, guilt, panic, social unrest or grief, to name a few. How can / should we prepare for these outcomes in our response to attacks? not forgetting those within your organisation could also be feeling victimised. Theyre likely to be concerned for their job, feel guilt and even suffer PTSD type effects. How are your staff being supported and empowered during difficult times? "The end results could be catastrophic to individuals, so we need to think about these problems at the Human level, for individuals and society." Prof. Mary Aiken Global Cybersecurity Forum #GCF2024

🛡️ We’re proud to support Mental Health Innovations (MHI) in safeguarding the sensitive data of those seeking mental health support. 🛡️ MHI powers Shout, a free, 24/7 text-based service designed to help anyone in the UK who is struggling with their mental health. As you would expect, protecting the sensitive data of users is of the utmost importance. MHI needed to make sure they had the most robust data protection in place so that users could have confidence in the service. 💬 Edward Conway, Director of IT & Security at Mental Health Innovations said: “Daisy has empowered us to achieve a level of cyber security that goes beyond what would normally be possible for a comparatively small team like ours.” Want more details? Yes, YOU 🫵, have one awesome opportunity. Have you met my friend Rocco? I mean Robert Cioffi? If you haven't, and you're going to be at The IT Nation Secure event, well, Mark your calendar 📅 ...And yes, this is me plugging a friend because, well, it's some of the best messaging and information you can learn while at Secure. Why? You haven't experienced anything until you live a week in the life of Robert. On July 2, 2021, a cyber attack was launched on an international scale. • A 0-day exploit in the RMM tool was used by threat actors. • The event is described as a “Nightmare Scenario”. • 👉One MSP not only survived but thrived despite the near business-ending event. I'm not too stoked I'll be missing it, but what he tells me is he'll be talking about the follow-ups since that day and how he and his team worked through: • emotional and psychological trauma. • Encouragement to imagine your own experience in such a situation. • Reflection on preparedness for such events. Anywho, thanks ConnectWise for giving this man the stage as it's a story EVERY MSP needs to hear. And maybe for those that aren't going, leave a comment below if we should have him come tell this in Empath 😉
