We don't keep our love for beer a secret. 🤫🍺 Our Belgian team visited the Brouwerij Rodenbach. All that learning about brewing, hop, and yeast made us hungry. Luckily we had a tasty barbecue waiting for us at the office! 🍽 #team #teambuilding #breweryvisit #bbq #indiansummer #hiring

After two successful editions, the European Beer Star #FutureAward is entering its third round this year. But what added value do breweries gain by taking part? Stefan Stang, Managing Director, Private Brauereien Bayern e.V.: Participation in the Future Award allows breweries to compare themselves with other industry players. The objective jury provides the breweries with valuable feedback from an "outside perspective" with individual recommendations for sustainable measures in the business, allowing them to improve step by step. After all, #sustainability is a continuous process in which it is important to consistently take one step at a time. The added value is confirmed by the previous #winners. And: there is really no reason not to take part. Participation in the Future Award is free of charge and the effort required to complete the questionnaire is manageable.

It’s not just all wine tasting you know. 🤣🍷 Outside of being involved in 4 businesses, a lot of my “spare” time is spent revising more locations, vineyards, terroirs so that I can better specialise on events for clients and widen everyone’s knowledge. Most of my job when I host an event is wine education. From the person who has no prior knowledge of wine or maybe are just starting our exploring wine to those who are regular drinkers, collectors or wine industry professionals. Constant learning is certainly needed and true of the drinks industry and therefore I’m no different. With meetings this week including a bar looking for advice on drinks to stock and a potential wine list creation, to an early run through of our latest innovation - The Sheffield Table to a soon to be announced sponsorship of a football team. Plenty to get my teeth into this week. How is yours mapping out? #keeplearning #constantevaluation #forwardprojections #forwardthought #constantlyimprove #businessevaluations

A story to illustrate you CAN realise your dream … My son John has a passion for making craft beer. So, 15 years ago, he wrote to a brewery in London to see if they had a job for him. That’s how it all started. In November 2022, he opened, together with two beer-loving friends and experienced brewers, a small craft beer brewery in Hoxton, London: Great Beyond Brewing Company. And now, in April 2024, they are among the four 2024 winners of the Raise The Bar Award, a national competition organised by We Are Beer for the best new breweries in the UK and beyond. These four winners will pour alongside the industry’s best at the Bristol, Manchester, and London Craft Beer Festivals. Congratulations, guys, what a remarkable Team achievement! ____________________________ 😎 Hi, I am Reinoud. 👉 I am helping you to grow as a manager or leader. 👍 No nonsense, practical, results-oriented leadership coach. Yes, it’s Groundhog Day; this story repeats itself. Over and over and over … New Belgium Brewing, best known for its Fat Tire ale and Voodoo Ranger IPA, announced it has ceased operations at its Mission Bay brewpub and restaurant. A press release states the location has “suffered financially in recent years.” It’s only been open three+ years. Who did this store’s pro forma? While many wax sentimental about the death of Anchor Brewing last year … there have been many taprooms, brewpubs, and microbreweries that have been shuttered in the once gorgeous Bay Area over the past five years. It’s not the homeless — albeit a factor, it’s the exceptionally high costs — in every line item on a biz’s financials — and the social ignorance and political climate the stews like a bad recipe in the Bay’s cauldron. This malaise has effected sooo many industries — not just craft beer. Last year, Gump’s — the 166-year old retailer stated this may be their last year. This utter decay and market destruction is man-made AND woman-made. When I used to manage a 1,000+ retail stores, one of my many responsibilities was determining how our assets needed to be “redeployed.” This one would have been easy. In 2019 — pre-COVID-19, I would have passed on this market. It’s not too late for the San Francisco market. Yet we need to have the will and move swiftly — and consistently — for the next 25 years. Or it’ll continue to be Groundhog Day. And this story will simply repeat itself. “I left my heart n San Francisco. High on a hill, it calls to me.” — Tony Bennett #NewBelgium #BayArea #SanFrancisco #CraftBeer #NonAlc #BevAlc #NonCraft #Beer #Microbreweries #Taprooms #Brewpubs #ConsumerBehavior #BrandAwareness #ActionableInsights #BusinessInsights #DataAnalysis #PredictiveAnalytics #BusinessIntelligence #SocialCurrents Source: San Francisco Chronicle ✦ ✦ ✦ Stephen Carter King Chief of Growth and Marketing + Beerconomist • Sherpa • Team Leader • CEO Beerconomy & Co., beer market analyses and trends Steve@KingsCrossing.com ✦ Kings Crossing

With out a doubt, the beer industry is facing considerable change. Our underlying economic environment is shifting, consumer preferences are changing and its unclear what the ‘post craft world’ means for independent brewers. This presents significant challenges but also the opportunity to lean into the innovation and creativity that sparked so much of the ‘craft revolution’ over the last decade. The IBA is facing these challenges head on – we are being dynamic, changing our own strategy, structure and operations, advocating more than we ever have and trying hard to address the systemic issues in the beer industry. All while keeping our eye on the prize of a vibrant and high-quality beer industry for years to come. We’re not going to lie – it’s a complex time but you can be a part of this as a Board Director. You would play a key role in helping us navigate these complexities and to set the scene for the next phase of our evolution. We think it’s exciting and we hope you do to! I understand that you put a lot of trust into your peers when it comes to recommending anything that is beneficial for your beverage production. I encourage you to listen to what Justin Vickaryous (a user) has to say about our instruments and sensors, he is a user. For a reason. Actually many reasons. Listen and learn why - CBOX helps you to get insights at packaging and before to maximize shelf life - how an Alcolyzer system helps you being within ABV spec when it comes to high gravity or non hig gravity brewing - why an oxygen sensor for wort deareation is meaningful - why blending and carbonation makes you much more efficient in making your final product ...and more! If you make #beer, #soft-drink, #cider, #wine, any other beverage, you will be able to relate.

Another Hospitality Blow: Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company Announces Brewery Closure The hospitality industry continues to face headwinds. Just weeks after the news of TGI Fridays' closures, Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC) has announced plans to close its 150-year-old Bank's Brewery in Wolverhampton. This decision puts nearly 100 jobs at risk and is a significant blow to the industry. The closure is driven by a decline in cask ale volumes and the end of a licensing partnership. This news demonstrates the huge pressures that even global brewers are facing from the high taxation of beer, energy and raw material costs. These restructuring decisions are difficult to make, and unfortunately a necessity to remain competitive in a struggling market.

Niagara Custom Crush Studio was established in 2022 with a vision of creating a state-of-the-art production facility where independent wineries could come to create some of the finest wines available in Ontario wine country. Here’s a breakdown of the key benefits: 1. Scalability Without Capital Investment Flexible Production: Wineries can scale production up or down based on demand without the need to invest in their own large facilities. Risk Mitigation: This setup allows wineries to test new markets or products with minimal financial risk, adjusting production as necessary. 2. Access to Cutting-Edge Winemaking Technology Quality Consistency: We are equipped with the latest winemaking technology, ensuring that wines are produced to the highest quality standards. Expertise on Demand: Niagara Custom Crush Studio facilities offer skilled winemaking teams, giving wineries access to specialized expertise that might otherwise be costly to hire or develop in-house. 3. Cost-Efficiency in Operations Lower Overheads: Wineries avoid expenses associated with facility maintenance, equipment upgrades, and labour. Optimized Cash Flow: By outsourcing production, wineries can allocate more funds toward marketing, sales, and distribution—key areas for growth—rather than tying up cash in infrastructure. 4. Enhanced Focus on Core Business Areas More Time for Brand Building: With production handled by a trusted third party, wineries can concentrate on developing their brand, building customer relationships, and expanding their market presence. Reduced Logistical Burden: Many custom crush operations provide end-to-end solutions, including bottling and packaging, which streamlines production and simplifies distribution. 5. Increased Speed to Market Faster Production Turnaround: Custom facilities often have the capacity to ramp up production and move quickly to get products into the market faster than building or scaling internal facilities. Agility for Market Trends: Wineries can respond to changing consumer preferences more quickly, experimenting with different wine styles, packaging, and product types as trends evolve. A Niagara Custom Crush Studio partnership allows wineries to grow profitably, scale flexibly, and maintain high product quality while focusing on building their brand and reaching customers. #VQAwine #Niagara #Wine https://lnkd.in/gUZ2gzKi If you'd like to hear more about our services, please contact me at: phenderson@niagaracrush.com

We are proud this #FamilyBusinessFriday to publish the fifth in our series of six brilliant future-looking family business leaders, forming our #FamilyBusinessWeek - ‘Ones to Watch’. Perhaps working just a mile from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast helps foster a different sense of time, but Emily Palmer Ramus, Chief Executive of Palmers Brewery, clearly has a long-term perspective. Named CEO only recently, Emily is the fifth generation descendent of John Cleeves and Robert Henry Palmer, brothers who bought an existing brewing company back in the late 19th Century. There has been beer brewing on site non-stop since 1794. Dorset-based Palmers employs 50 people directly, and their 52 pubs (all tenanted) employ a further c1,000. While the selection of beers Palmers produces may evolve, The Dorset Pale craft keg was added a few years back, the heart of the business has remained the same. “People and custodianship are always at the heart and have been for generations”, Emily explains. Staff service is measured in decades at Palmers. Half of the staff have been there over 10 years, with many over 20, and some over 30. Emily says: “Long service creates the family atmosphere at the brewery, and means we have a workforce with a wealth of knowledge and breadth of experience as they’ve often held multiple roles.” Read more about Emily and her family business journey Palmers Brewery, in our "Ones to Watch" https://bit.ly/EmilyPra Family Business Week is Sponsored by NatWest Business. #nextgeneration #innovation #stewardship #familyvalues #familybusiness
