Hi WST: I want to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the lack of accessibility accommodations at the World Snooker Tour Scottish Open. What should have been an enjoyable experience has instead been completely ruined due to inadequate provisions for wheelchair users (of whom my brother in law is and I am with) and an apparent lack of genuine interest in addressing accessibility needs. Limited Viewing Access for Wheelchair Users: The only designated wheelchair area is at the very front, where it is impossible to see more than one of the four tables being played. This not only severely restricts our viewing experience but also highlights a fundamental misunderstanding of what constitutes fair and inclusive access. Denied Access to Marked Accessibility Areas: Despite the seating plan on the ticket indicating an accessible area at the back, we were told we could not sit there. This contradiction between advertised provisions and actual accommodations is both misleading and unacceptable. Better Experience Watching on TV: In its current setup, it is genuinely easier to watch the event on television. At least there, we can see the entirety of the tables. It is a sad reality when a live event fails to surpass a home-viewing experience for accessibility. Dismissive and Aggressive Attitude from Staff: The chief steward informed us that “everything has been done for wheelchair users.” However, it is evident that only the bare minimum has been done—if that. Furthermore, the steward’s aggressive and dismissive behavior when we raised our concerns only compounded the situation. It was insulting and wholly unprofessional. Event Ruined by Neglect: The lack of meaningful accommodations and the indifference of your team have ruined this event for us. It is deeply disappointing to see such a high-profile tournament fail so spectacularly in providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all fans. Accessibility is not an optional add-on; it is a fundamental right. Your handling of this event reflects poorly on the World Snooker Tour and its commitment to inclusivity. I hope you take this feedback seriously and use it to implement meaningful changes—not just for the remainder of this tournament but for all future events. Introducing...CARV - The California Action Retailer + Venture Expo, taking place June 20-22, 2025 at the San Diego Convention Center. CARV marks the return of a west coast-based expo where manufacturers can showcase the latest outdoor, adventure and sport-related products. These are just a few tales of massive organisations starting with a single step. Similar to hiking everest, you cannot be deterred by the large challenge ahead if you want to climb. Facing a large challenge requires persistance and consistency. Just remember, one step after another. Don't be afraid to try new things or take on new challenges. Start small. All great achievements start with a single step; what's yours? What steps would you take if no one was watching? If no one was there to pass opinion? How many people have never even attempted to pursue their dream, let alone achieve it, simply because they feared the judgement and ridicule of others? Growth isn't just about being better, for the sake of being better. It's about mastering yourself to live your happiest, fullest, most free and fulfilling life.
