Such words of wisdom in this post.
Co-Founder, HGTV. Author of several books. Champion of women, mindful leaders, and #hoperich sobriety.
“Today is your last day.” When anyone receives this news, but especially this time of year, it’s a gut punch. Years ago, I got similar news. I was in a board role for a public company. The CEO called one day and said ‘the Board decided’ my skills were no longer needed. I got no meaningful explanation. I felt betrayed. Mortified. A year later, several other Board members were gone, and it became clear the CEO had wrested control of the company. He wanted a smaller, select Board. That hard moment prompted me to take stock. I saw that even after leaving HGTV, one thing, corporate work, was still so central to my identity. No so today, thankfully. Which brings me back to this time of year. I just put up our little, bent, precious Nativity scene. If you follow the story, two people were told ‘there’s no room at the inn.’ It didn’t stop them, they just found another place. And look how well that turned out. We are more than one place, one role. We are much bigger than that.

🚀 Exciting News! 🚀 I’m proud to share that our company is now officially Kintyre Holdings (JA) Limited, formerly known as iCreate Limited. We have received our updated Certificate of Incorporation. This name change marks a significant milestone in our journey of growth, expansion, and diversification across various industries, reflecting who we are today and the new opportunities we are creating as a group. Throughout our journey, we’ve lived by our slogan: “See. Believe. Achieve.” We saw the potential for growth, believed in our vision, and now, together, we are achieving it. This change signals the start of a new era for us, as we evolve into a stronger, more diversified Kintyre Holdings, ready to make an even greater impact globally. The transformation opens greater opportunities for profitability across our subsidiaries, aligning us with our mission to deliver increased shareholder value. Next steps include updating our name on the Jamaica Stock Exchange and applying to adopt our new stock symbol: KNTYR. I want to thank the entire team for their hard work, dedication, and passion that has brought us to this point. We’re excited for the future and look forward to achieving even greater success as Kintyre Holdings. Let’s keep pushing forward! 💪 #KintyreHoldings #Transformation #SeeBelieveAchieve #Growth #Success

Exciting news to share! It is with a sense of achievement that I look back on my time as Operations Manager for Make Votes Matter, the UK national campaign for Proportional Representation. It's been an honour to support the professionalisation of the organisation over the past year and a half. I leave the campaign now in a much stronger position than when I joined. I'm proud to have been part of the team that managed some significant transformations and strategic developments which prepared MVM for growth. The results were quickly apparent. The campaign has recently achieved its largest ever number of supporters and its greatest success in fundraising since it was founded in 2015. This has been a real highlight and testimony to the fact that good operations management leads to more successful campaigns. Proportional Representation has always been a cause close to my heart. It is a fairer, more democratic and vastly superior electoral system to First Past the Post. It delivers more representative, more diverse and more accountable MPs - and heavens knows we need that here in the UK. The omnishambles of the current government - elected to govern alone, but on a minority of votes - is just the latest in a series of unrepresentative and undemocratic governments the UK has seen. This has to change. PR will make a difference. I'm thrilled to have contributed to the movement. I joined the staff after having been a supporter since the birth of the company, nine years ago. In fact, I was present at the event where MVM was founded. That’s where I met my husband, but that’s a story for another day. It has been an honour to work alongside such knowledgeable and dedicated colleagues both within the organisation itself and in the wider movement. I leave Make Votes Matter a stronger campaign with an ambitious, but achievable strategic plan to win PR. I wish all fellow supporters and all staff present and future, including the soon to be appointed new CEO, the very best of luck. Exciting times are ahead. My next chapter begins on Monday. #ProportionalRepresentation #UKDemocracy #MakeVotesMatter #OperationsManagement #OpsManager #NewHorizons

Takeaways from UKREiiF for me: 1) Collaboration / Partnering has never been more important as building anything is more difficult than it has been in decades. 2) Post election, no matter which way it goes, will give some certainty for decision makers to act upon. Doing nothing isn’t an option. 3) Loads of Council’s have sites to offer to the market and are more open to JVs than ever before. 4) The UK property industry are a savvy bunch with lots of innovation, particularly around investing sustainably; and 5) Nothing beats a face to face meeting. Even in the rain. Thanks for the brolley UKREiiF and putting on a well organised event. Your staff on the gates and wayfinders did a smashing job. I have no doubt that Rapleys shall be back in full force next year.
