There are a number of arms to this issue. Undoubtedly we require cultures and workload management structures that support collegiality, inter-professional collaboration, and institutional challenge and accountability that leads to the kind of change that optimizes excellence in patient care. The second, and not to be considered secondary in priority to the former, requires a concerted understanding and integration of the ‘experience’ of professional role transition for healthcare professionals. The experience of transition significantly influences and impacts on the new professionals assimilation into their new work context.
Concern No. 1 | Challenges transitioning newly trained clinicians from education into practice No one doubts that the typical volume of clinician's hands-on and in-person educational experience was disrupted by the pandemic. Adding this to growing workforce shortages and demands may result in increased risk of harm to patients as new clinicians transition from education to clinical practice. Learn more! Last Sunday I moderated a panel discussion about Law and Medicine at a national level Intensive Care Symposium. As this background audio says I started by giving example of the famous story of a group of blind persons who has never heard of an elephant touching different parts of an elephant and guessing it's shape and size.. Had a good time discussing day to day practice in ICU with more legal clarity being added by all panelists. Also discussed many aspects where hospital managers also need to play an important role. #medicolegal #hospital #healthcaremanagement #criticalcaremedicine #ISCCM

1moDear British Academy of Audiology, I would just like to also add the very important point of ‘inappropriate people’ being trained to your above message. In addition, thank you and Kathryn Lewis for taking this matter up and instigating the formation of the National Aural Care Strategy Group (NACSG).
