HOT OFF THE PRESS: The WeWorld Index 2024 is here! 🌍 The latest edition of the WeWorld Index, a flagship report of ChildFund Alliance, sheds light on the global state of rights for women, children and young people. Now in its ninth year, this critical report highlights alarming trends and crucial gaps in human rights protections. This year’s focus? The right of children and youth to have a future, with a strong emphasis on providing fair and sustainable opportunities for growth. Key Findings: ➡️ It will take 113 years until women and children experience full rights implementation. ➡️ 1 in 3 children and more than 1 in 4 women live in countries with minimal human rights protections. ➡️ Today’s societies are generally less democratic and secure for women and children. ➡️ Educational progress is stagnating, although child health outcomes have seen improvement. The future for children is now – they must be heard, but we must act and help amplify their voices. There's a nasty stereotype about men... ... on their ability or propensity to care, literally and figuratively. 👇 Research shows, that's not true. According to Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice - Most parents (particularly dads) are ready to be activists for care policies. - While women have traditionally led the charge in advocating for care policies, fathers are increasingly showing readiness to join the movement. - Women carry a disproportionate burden of care work, both at home and in activism, highlighting the need for gender-balanced participation in advocacy. - Despite lower agreement percentages, a significant portion of fathers express willingness to engage in care policy activism. - Notably, low-income and fathers of color show heightened support for universal public childcare, emphasizing diverse perspectives within the movement. Worldwide, women don’t get the health care they need. This inequality increases their risk of disease, disability, gender-based violence and death. This is especially true for women and girls with disabilities. Sightsavers fights for women’s rights by working with partners across Africa and Asia to dismantle the barriers that prevent women and girls from accessing health care. We also challenge negative stereotypes around disability, and campaign so women and girls can exercise their right to get an education, go to work and vote.
