In today’s competitive environment, students feel immense pressure to secure internships as soon as summer starts. Many end up taking unpaid positions or even paying for certifications, all in the hope of enhancing their LinkedIn profiles. While these achievements look impressive on paper, they often don’t reflect real skills or meaningful experience. This creates a misleading impression of expertise and can make others doubt their own abilities, even if they possess great potential and visionary ideas. The reality is, many students are collecting certificates and internship experiences that are no more than just pieces of paper. These documents might claim they are top-notch professionals capable of anything, but often, this isn't the case. The emphasis on collecting credentials rather than developing genuine skills can be disheartening. It leads to a superficial competition where the focus is more on appearances than actual abilities. LinkedIn itself has evolved in a way that often undermines its original purpose. Instead of being a platform for professional networking and growth, it’s increasingly filled with scam posts and individuals showcasing questionable knowledge. Scammers are on the move, and many people share their stories of being scammed by multiple companies or individuals. Every time you log in, you might see posts promoting services and classes that promise career success but fail to deliver practical value. These so-called opportunities can be frustrating and misleading. They exploit our desire for growth and validation, often resulting in wasted time and resources. The true success stories are overshadowed by those who master the art of self-promotion without substantial substance. This makes it difficult for genuinely talented and innovative individuals to gain the recognition they deserve. It’s important to remain focused on real skill development and not get distracted by the competition that often prevails on these platforms. By emphasizing genuine growth and learning, we can build a more authentic and valuable professional community. ✨ hashtag #internship hashtag #summerinternship hashtag #fakeinternshipscam hashtag #scamalert hashtag #internshipscam hashtag #hiringscam hashtag #jobopportunities hashtag #linkedin

An expert once said: “Your career doesn’t start when you land your first job/internship —it starts the moment you start preparing for it.” I remember sitting across and listening from a seasoned recruiter, notepad in hand, famishing to soak up every bit of wisdom. The room was packed with undergrads, all of us wondering what the future held after uni😅. Here’s what he had to say: -Don’t overlook soft skills. This might sound like a cliché, but it’s the reality. Communication and adaptability are just as important as technical skills. These are the qualities that help you stand out. -Your LinkedIn profile is your handshake. Well, to me, that was expected actually. He suggested we make it memorable with a strong headline and a story-driven summary. Most recruiters nowadays used that in finding top applicants for job roles. - Internships aren’t just about experience (or taking daily pictures 🌝). I’m not against taking pictures at workplace all the time😅 - i do that often too. However, he detailed the real essence of internships; which is about building connections and showing you’re willingness to learn. After hearing all this, It got me thinking about how many of us students don’t realize the power and mandate we have to shape our future early on. Well maybe, some are waiting for the right time or the perfect opportunity to act. However, the sad truth is, every moment is a chance to build the foundation for your career- make today count. What’s your advise to a young professional today? Enoch Nunekpeku Caleb Shalley #StudentSuccess #FutureLeaders #InternshipTips #LinkedInStrategy

I've helped countless students secure their dream internships. If you want to secure your dream internship, stop relying solely on luck. A good strategy works and strives to be perfect. A bad strategy is simply hoping for the best without preparation. 1. Focus on the reader: Always think about what recruiters want. They care about how you can add value to their organization... ...not just your academic achievements. 2. Profile Optimization: Create a compelling LinkedIn profile that stands out. Highlight your skills, experiences, and unique value proposition. 3. Strategic Networking: Build meaningful connections that open doors. Connect with industry professionals, join relevant groups, and engage in conversations. 4. Use clear language: Avoid jargon and complex words in your LinkedIn profile and communications. Write in simple, easy-to-understand language. This ensures your message reaches a broader audience. 5. Targeted Job Search: Apply effectively to the right opportunities. Tailor your applications to match the specific needs of the company and role. 6. Be concise: Get to the point quickly in your applications and communications. Long-winded explanations lose the reader's interest. Remember why you’re on LinkedIn in the first place: ↳ To connect with industry professionals, ↳ To inspire recruiters with your skills, ↳ To help them see your potential. It's all about them, not just you. Stop relying on luck. Be strategic. ♻️ Repost this, and I'll send you my internship landing ChatGPT prompts that have helped many students secure their internships for FREE!! #InternshipTips #CareerAdvice #LinkedInTips #EarlyCareer #Mentorship #InternshipSuccess #Degree2Destiny #Networking #JobHunt #CareerGrowth

I spoke at my university about student careers. And I know most of you were not there. But don’t worry! If you’re looking for your first work experience, I’ve summarised my talk into 5 little points . →Leverage your existing network, including parents and friends ↳ Ask your family if they know anyone → Keep a cut - off time for work during the day ↳ avoids burnout → Do professional courses (fruitfully fills your CV) ↳ Builds your skills without experience → Send out 5 LinkedIn cold messages a day ↳ It takes just 1 response to change your life → Make use of university careers services ↳ Why not? It’s included in your tuition What would you add? #careers #students #networking #university #internship
