Better Cotton is proud to be part of The Fashion Pact's Unlock Programme!🔓 In collaboration with 2050.cloud and Future Earth Lab.org, the programme aims to catalyse the shift to lower climate impact and regenerative farming. 🌱 Our COO Lena Staafgard marked this exciting announcement by joining The Fashion Pact at #ClimateWeekNYC, where she spoke about the need for systemic change, and called for solutions to bring benefits to farmers at scale. Lars van Doremalen, Better Cotton’s Impact Director, commented: 💬"Our work with the Unlock Programme will drive investment to the field level, supporting more than 10,000 smallholder farmers this cotton season in becoming part of the solution to climate change. 🌍 Our Commitment to a Better Future 🌍 We are extremely proud of our team members, who are passionately dedicated to sustainability. As reflected in their successful efforts to raise €8,890 so far in 2024, we have been able to contribute to meaningful causes by esteemed organisations such as ClientEarth, National Geographic Society, EuroNatur Foundation, WWF, The Ocean Cleanup, Rainforest Foundation UK, and Waterkeeper Alliance! 🚀 We have an amazing engagement team that gamified sustainability initiatives and enabled everyone to partake in different challenges. Each team member's participation and contribution added more money to the total pot, which was then divided between these organisations that our team picked! ♻ From recycling battles and plastic detoxing, to upcycling, cooking, and plant growing challenges, we are thankful for our team's dedication to building healthy and sustainable habits!  By fostering a culture of environmental responsibility, companies can drive meaningful change and inspire others. 🌍Happy Earth Day🌍 My role as ESG Officer has really shifted my focus to sustainability. The past few months I've incorporated a few good habits into my daily life. From including weekly vegetarian meals to opting for pre-loved toys and clothes for my kids, and always carrying reusable water bottles; every small change counts towards a brighter future for our planet and our children. 🌳  At Impact Hero, we’re not just planting trees and collecting plastics — we’re cultivating a movement for change! Our 2024 Impact Report is here, and we’re excited to share our journey with you. 🌍 So far, on top of planting 2.7 million trees, we’ve also engaged in a variety of impactful initiatives that foster environmental and social change. We’ve restored 300 corals, protected 3 million square meters of forests, provided over 5,900 hours of education, and collected 12,000 kg of plastics from our environment, with our new focus beyond reforestation allowing us to address more Sustainable Development Goals. We’ve engaged with numerous organizations and inspired many companies to join our cause, creating a ripple effect of positive actions throughout the Global South. Changing our food system to one based on the principles of the circular economy is one of the most powerful things we can do to tackle climate change and build biodiversity. We can achieve this and provide healthy nutritious food for all. The Network is committed to tackling the world’s most urgent problems by transforming business practice, as a collective. Business needs to tackle the triple crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss, now. “As Climate Week New York 2024 gets under way, the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and socio-economic instability demand urgent action. Agriculture plays a pivotal role in achieving net zero.”     Alongside many of our fellow members of the WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development's OP2B coalition of 26 companies, I was pleased to co-sign an OpEd on behalf of Kering calling on financiers, policymakers and businesses to act collectively and support the transition to regenerative agricultural practices. Working together to align both new and existing financial incentives so that farmers can be rewarded for the tangible benefits they bring to nature must be a priority. Our Regenerative Fund for Nature we established with Conservation International in 2021 has been a pioneering and innovative financing mechanism to invest in farmers and organisations on the frontlines of scaling regenerative practices in the luxury and fashion industry.
