The main goal is to develop a comprehensive set of harmonised GHG emission factors for the transport sector, covering both conventional fuels and new fuels, including production pathways not yet covered by existing databases. We are proud to announce that the Science Based Targets initiative has officially validated our long-term SBTi targets to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050. This commitment includes significant absolute reductions of scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across various areas, including purchased goods and services, energy-related activities, upstream transportation, waste management, and end-of-life treatment of sold products. Our net-zero target approval complements our near-term emission reduction targets, confirmed in early 2024, which align with a 1.5-degree Celsius trajectory. In our near-term targets we aim to reduce: 🌎Our absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 54.6% 🌎The scope 3 emissions by 32.5% 🌎By fiscal year 2033, using a fiscal year 2022 baseline. These targets are a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and an integral part of our sustainability strategy. In our blog post celebrating the first anniversary with Nasdaq, we wanted to make progress on the following areas: ▶ Geographic growth: CORCs have been issued to suppliers on all permanently inhabited continents. Suppliers in our funnel come from 72 countries. ▶ New methodologies: Since then we have added world's first ERW methodology and updated existing methodologies biannually. Also, now working on the Ocean CDR space. ▶ New and stronger partnerships: New types of intermediaries are entering the market. At the moment there are more than 40 active sales channels and many other types of partners as listed in: https://lnkd.in/gXiHawhi ▶ Keep enabling advance commitments: Here we have taken a more of a arms-length approach that is more suited to a carbon crediting program, but are working towards an approach where a corporation can claim they are on a #pathway to #netzero IF they can prove they are lowering their emissions ambitiously AND have committed to an #OxfordOffsettingPrinciples aligned portfolio for a significant number of years (tbd). Again, let's keep on transforming world's economy to reward for carbon removals! This is a really nice paper with a framework for identifying greenwashing using the example of the The Pathways Alliance advertising campaign. From the abstract: "We identify instances of selective disclosure and omission, misalignment of claim and action, displacement of responsibility, non-credible claims, specious comparisons, nonstandard accounting, and inadequate reporting." There is also evidence that their [Pathways Alliance] publicity campaign extends beyond the materials usually collected and assessed for greenwashing by researchers. The article calls for further research into net zero communication and an expanded conception of greenwashing able to account for the role of digital platforms, public relations, and sector-wide alliances in strategically coordinated climate communication."
