I was reminded today of the significance of forging strong partnerships after locking in details for a strategic partnership that spans multiple parties across animal health. Traditionally, two-party collaborations have been pivotal, driving both innovation and industry growth. Yet, the pursuit of a more meaningful, sustainable, and ethically responsible approach to business has ushered in the concept of tripartite partnerships. This model fosters collaboration between corporations and nonprofits, creating a unique synergy that surpasses the outcomes of traditional alliances. I am grateful to pilot this as we speak with some important organizations. The essence of seeking a win-win-win situation lies not just in business advancement or innovation but in generating a broader positive impact that benefits industry and society alike. Are you a giver, a taker or a matcher. Brian May is a giver. #badgers 🦡 are an emotive topic but watch this to see how being a Giver can change outcomes, for everyone, for the better no matter how difficult or entrenched the problem may seem. Givers, in the words of Prof Adam Grant focus on contributing to others without seeking anything in return. They might offer help or assistance, share knowledge, or make valuable introductions. They want everyone to succeed. But Brian admits he hasn't always operated as a giver. Brian and his co-founder of animal sanctuary The Save Me Trust, Anne Brummer were fundamentally opposed to the badger cull. But a few years ago they realised that, despite the overwhelming evidence in their favour, their campaign was not "winning" the argument, nothing had changed, not for cows, badgers or farmers and we were spending millions of pounds a year on culling animals, including thousands of healthy badgers. That's without even considering the devastating impact of slaughtering animals on the farming families. They had a fundamental rethink and decided to adopt a different approach, to work with, not against, the people on the other side of the argument. To be true givers. To focus on helping, not winning. Together with pioneering vet Dick Sibley and the Reed family who own Gatcombe Farm in Devon and via an introduction from the NFU (National Farmers' Union) they went back to basics. I won't spoil the programme for you but just to say that 💩 has a lot to answer for! Brian's #humility and #honesty is inspiring and the way the team works together for a shared outcome is wonderful 👏 Are you a giver, a taker or a matcher? After social media backlash, Tractor Supply Company has recently issued a press release stating that the company will: ➡️“Eliminate DEI roles and retire our current DEI goals while still ensuring a respectful environment” ➡️“Further focus on rural America priorities including ag education, animal welfare, veteran causes and being a good neighbor and stop sponsoring nonbusiness activities like pride festivals and voting campaigns” This follows a statement from 2021, when the TSC CEO said he hoped to address multiple long-term DEI initiatives.
