New research from Cornell University has found that the per capita average microplastic dietary intake is about 63.4mg/capita/day in 2018 for Belgians, which amounts to approximately 23 grams per year. Shockingly, the main sources of dietary intake are from common foods such as fish, milk, processed meat, and refined grains. This study highlights the urgent need for further research and action to address the growing issue of microplastic pollution in our food and water system. #microplastics #foodpollution #environmentalhealth

use & t̶h̶r̶o̶w̶ GROWWW Swipe left and check out these mind blowing products. I have seen a lot of brands promoting eco-friendly products but they are doing more than just promoting, they are living out their statement. Use the product 👉🏻Get the seeds out 👉🏻Sowing the seeds 👉🏻Watering properly 👉🏻Harvesting 👉🏻Enjoy the healthy, fresh self grown veggies They implanted seeds very nicely to each of their products: • At the end of Pencils. • Each month’s card has seeds in it. • Diary has bookmarks with different herbal seeds in it. Guess the brand🤔 #trend #ecofriendly #greenindiacleanindia #gogreen #zerowaste #reduce #reuse #recycle

Not many would associate food waste with skin care. By-products including fruits’ and vegetables’ seeds, stems, leaves and pulp are usually discarded. They are rich in healthy compounds which can be recovered and used in cosmetic formulations, contributing to #CircularEconomy. #sustainability #CircularEconomy #CE #WasteToX #WTX #FoodWaste #SkinCare #innovation #PeopleIntegrated Follow People Integrated to get inspired on hot business topics and human capital consulting.
Over the past few decades, the rise in food consumption has resulted in a significant increase in the generation of non-edible by-products, such as fruit and vegetable peels, seeds, and leaves. These by-products can make up between 3% and 60% of the total plant. Research indicates that these discarded natural materials often possess health benefits that are comparable to, or even greater than, their edible counterparts. By-products from coffee, tomatoes, olives, and citrus fruits are particularly rich in acids, antioxidants, proteins, pectins, minerals, vitamins, and oils, offering protective, healing, and anti-inflammatory properties. Could these by-products be the future of the skincare industry? #sustainability #CircularEconomy #CE #WasteToX #WTX #FoodWaste #SkinCare #innovation #PeopleIntegrated Follow People Integrated to get inspired on hot business topics and human capital consulting. https://lnkd.in/d2c3BtB4

Coffee, tomato, olive and citrus waste have plenty of commercially interesting ingredients for the skin care industry. Engaging those into a circular model would come with great environmental benefits, but also with costs attached. Local consortiums are needed to collect, process, treat and transform by-products into finished goods in order to create a sustainable model. #sustainability #CircularEconomy #CE #WasteToX #WTX #FoodWaste #SkinCare #innovation #PeopleIntegrated Follow People Integrated to get inspired on hot business topics and human capital consulting.

It's World Vegan Day - Do you know the difference between Plant-Based and Vegan? 💭 Sometimes used interchangeably, Plant-Based refers to a diet that revolves predominantly or solely around plant-derived food. In contrast, Veganism is a lifestyle that removes all animal-derived and animal-tested materials from everything from food and clothing to cosmetics and personal care. Our focus has always been on sustainable materials but particularly for cosmetics, we have developed an ethical ingredient portfolio; From our Olivitas® line of olive oil-derived emulsifiers and natural Vercapro® preservation systems to our Innova plant-actives, sustainably harvested Manuka Oil MBTK™ and stabilised Vitamin C complex CosminC. We offer vegan options to create any formulation plus a huge range of pigments including the vibrant carmine-free Geopearl® Super Deep Pink. #VeganCosmetics #VeganSkincare #Vegan #WorldVeganDay Medolla Speciality Chemicals Jover Scientech Innova BM Manuka Bioscience - B Corp™ GEOTECH Special effect pigments

👉🏻WHY CHOOSE NATURAL PRESERVATIVES OVER SYTHETIC ONES❓❓❓ 1️⃣Healthier Option: Natural preservatives, derived from sources like herbs and fruits, are often viewed as safer and less likely to cause adverse health effects compared to synthetic additives. 2️⃣Consumer Preference: There's a growing demand for clean-label foods. Natural preservatives meet this demand, appealing to health-conscious consumers. 3️⃣Environmental Benefits: Natural preservatives usually have a lower environmental impact and come from renewable resources. 4️⃣Perceived Quality: Products with natural preservatives are often seen as fresher and of higher quality, enhancing brand appeal. 5️⃣Simplified Regulations: Natural preservatives typically face fewer regulatory hurdles, easing compliance. Overall, natural preservatives offer a healthier, consumer-friendly, and more sustainable choice. #NaturalPreservatives #SyntheticPreservatives #PreservationChoices #NaturalVsSynthetic #HealthyPreserving #PreserveNaturally #SyntheticAdditives #FoodPreservationScience Please share your thoughts in comments.

Lisa, thank you for this insightful article on the importance of up cycling ingredients. Food waste remains a significant global concern, with nearly one-third of all food produced worldwide going to waste. UFA research highlights a growing interest in upcycled products, with 95 percent of consumers supporting initiatives to reduce food waste. The concept of upcycling food ingredients not only addresses environmental issues but also aligns with ethical values. As Hesdahl noted, there is a strong desire to care for the environment and combat food waste, a pressing issue that needs urgent attention. At Fruit D'Or, they are at the forefront of upcycling with their cranberry and Wild Blueberry ingredients, which undergo rigorous testing for purity, authenticity, and efficacy. As a sustainable and zero waste company, Fruit D'Or is dedicated to implementing programs that enhance the environment and promote a healthier planet. Their commitment to innovation in science-based ingredients underscores their mission to contribute to the well-being of consumers. #FoodWaste #Sustainability #UpcycledProducts #Environment #ConsumerWellBeing #FruitDOr #Innovation #HealthAndWellness #ZeroWaste #EthicalIngredients

Have you heard of Arrabina™? It’s a prebiotic dietary fiber manufactured exclusively by COMET. COMET's proprietary line of Arrabina™ arabinoxylan dietary fibers are upcycled certified and have a 23 times lower carbon footprint compared to beta-glucan and 5 times lower footprint than inulin. Read more about Arrabina and its sustainable benefits compared to other dietary fibers and other sustainability swaps at the link in the comments. COMET and Planet FWD’s work together also studied the impacts of ingredient swaps versus other sustainability swaps such as packaging, to help illuminate where brands can drive faster and larger emissions reductions. The results: Swapping ingredients can reduce carbon footprint by >30% while using recycled PET packaging has no impact. We are so excited to see innovative and lower-carbon ingredients entering the market and creating new ways for brands to reach their climate goals! Read more about COMET's work with Planet FWD in Food Dive, linked in the comments.
