[DEOS Project; Fos-sur-Mer] 🎤On Wednesday, our Chief Products & Operations Officer, Ghislain Dufay, and our Project Manager, Anne-Laure Henry, participated in a public consultation to present BW Ideol’s project to establish a production line at Grand Port Maritime de Marseille - Port de Marseille Fos. ⚓BW Ideol is proud to contribute to the DEOS project through a feasibility study focused on creating a competitive production plant for floating foundations, maximizing local value creation. This project aims to establish an optimal organization within the Fos-sur-Mer Industrial and Port Zone for the construction and large-scale storage of floating foundations. Our compact and ring-shaped design is well-suited for serial production, utilizing proven construction methods without major harbor requirements. ✅With our headquarters located just 80km from Fos-sur-Mer, BW Ideol has an in-depth knowledge of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille - Port de Marseille Fos and the economic and industrial ecosystem of the region. This presentation provided an opportunity to highlight the positive impacts of the project for the region, including economic benefits, job creation, and a minimal carbon footprint. 🇫🇷 Local businesses in the Pays de la Lorie are expressing apprehensions ahead of tomorrow's announcement of the winner of the #AO5 #CfD. According to local news sources, there's unease among several companies in the marine wind sector regarding the potential impact of the winning candidate on the local industry. The name most frequently mentioned is OW Ocean Winds, which is already established in the #YeuNoirmoutier Park. Speaking anonymously, one industry insider commented, "This consortium has already inked a deal with Navantia, S.A., S.M.E to produce #floatingfoundations in #Spain. This suggests that the government prioritized cost over local employment. It will be hard for us to applaud the winner." Another professional voiced concerns, asking, "If the wind #turbines also come from China, what message does that send to the local economy?" These worries find support from Neopolia, a coalition of over 200 companies, 90 of which operate in Marine Renewables (#EMR). Vice-President Aymeric Foucher recently expressed disappointment over the lack of bids for the new wind park, stating, "[there were] very few inquiries for this project." While acknowledging that the best-suited company should win the contract, he emphasized the importance of consulting local stakeholders. Foucher noted the irony of seeing the Nantes-Saint Nazaire Port assembly site ready but lacking local involvement. Despite these concerns, recent advancements in #floatingoffshorewind could reshape the project's landscape. More companies are recognizing the significance of #modularity for industrialization and local SME participation. Strategies for “all-or-nothing scope” like those historically pursued by #Navantia might prompt the government to prioritize both cost efficiency and higher local content, potentially benefiting companies such as RWE and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG who already have a strong presence in France. Overall, all parties are optimistic that the wait will soon be over! #BretagneSud #Eoliennesenmer #Offshorewind #auction #Brest #CdA

Port of Degrad des Cannes: A Growth Year in 2023 🚢 The Port of Degrad des Cannes in French Guiana closes 2023 on a positive note, with a 0.4% increase in its traffic, reaching 932,370 tonnes. This growth is notably supported by an increase in liquid bulk, partly due to an extended dry season that increased demand for hydrocarbons for power generation. Despite a decrease in other segments, the port continues to develop and optimize its infrastructure for the future. #PortOfDegradDesCannes #FrenchGuiana #MaritimeTrade #Logistics #PortDevelopment #MaritimeTransport #MaritimeEconomy #Africa 🔗 GPM Guyane: traffic up in 2023 https://lnkd.in/eGGayauV

ShoreLink is pleased to announce our partnership with Actemium Brest to deliver advanced cable management systems and shore-side connection cabinets for the HAROPA PORT – Le Havre Cruise Terminal. This collaboration represents a significant step forward in implementing a high-voltage supply system for cruise ships, aimed at reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions caused by auxiliary engines during port calls. At HAROPA PORT, which hosts over 140 cruise ships annually and serves more than 460 000 passengers, vessels typically rely on their auxiliary engines to power various onboard facilities such as lighting, cold rooms, elevators, ventilation, and security systems while docked. However, these engines contribute to significant air quality pollution, including emissions of sulfur oxides (SOx) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), which have adverse effects on both the environment and public health. To address this challenge, our collaboration with Actemium Brest will enable the provision of shore power to visiting cruise ships, allowing them to switch off their auxiliary engines and connect to a cleaner, more sustainable power source while berthed at the terminal. By reducing emissions from ships, this initiative aligns with global efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of maritime transportation and promote cleaner air quality in port areas.
