We are pleased to welcome Guillaume FAURE to the Buchan Offshore Wind Board of Directors. Guillaume brings a wealth of strategic leadership and financial expertise in the energy sector, building on over 30 years of experience in Europe and the USA.   As Chief Finance Officer & EVP Co-Development at BW Ideol, Guillaume has a pivotal role in advancing floating offshore wind globally, and his extensive background in capital markets, energy finance, and project development will be invaluable as we progress our plans for Buchan Offshore Wind.

Honoured to represent BW Ideol and participate last week in the second edition of the #GreekOffshoreEnergy2024 Conference in Athens organised by BLUESIGN | Lead the way in collaboration with INTEC S.A.  and AKROCEAN, which brought together top industry leaders and experts to support Greece in embracing the floating offshore wind revolution. Special thanks to Eleni Tsirikou for moderating a panel where I had the opportunity to discuss with Daniel Bacon (Everoza) and Francisco Otal (Hitachi Energy) about strategies for the Greek offshore supply chain, covering both the need of product standarization and the use of concrete for floaters manufacturing.

[DEOS Project; Fos-sur-Mer] 🎤On Wednesday, our Chief Products & Operations Officer, Ghislain Dufay, and our Project Manager, Anne-Laure Henry, participated in a public consultation to present BW Ideol’s project to establish a production line at Grand Port Maritime de Marseille - Port de Marseille Fos. ⚓BW Ideol is proud to contribute to the DEOS project through a feasibility study focused on creating a competitive production plant for floating foundations, maximizing local value creation. This project aims to establish an optimal organization within the Fos-sur-Mer Industrial and Port Zone for the construction and large-scale storage of floating foundations. Our compact and ring-shaped design is well-suited for serial production, utilizing proven construction methods without major harbor requirements. ✅With our headquarters located just 80km from Fos-sur-Mer, BW Ideol has an in-depth knowledge of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille - Port de Marseille Fos and the economic and industrial ecosystem of the region. This presentation provided an opportunity to highlight the positive impacts of the project for the region, including economic benefits, job creation, and a minimal carbon footprint. [Greek Offshore Renewable Energy Conference] 🇬🇷 🌊BW Ideol is thrilled to participate in the Greek Offshore Renewable Energy Conference in Athens on November 14th. [Testing the Durability of Concrete in the Sea] At BW Ideol, we firmly believe that concrete is a low-carbon, recyclable, and—above all—highly durable material for floating wind foundations. Our Floatgen turbine, with its concrete substructure, has been operating at sea since 2018, without any issues to its floating foundation. This summer, as part of the Velella Project, BW Ideol, the Fondation OPEN-C and Centrale Nantes installed concrete blocks on Floatgen to test their resistance to chloride ions under harsh marine conditions. 🔬 The results from these tests, combined with core samples from Floatgen, will help us assess chloride penetration after more than 6 years at sea. #ConcreteDurability #FloatingWind #SustainableMaterials

It has been great a pleasure to attend and speak this week at the first edition of Floating Energy - Mediterranean (FloatMed) conference, held in Bari (Italy) and organised by Waterford Energy Services Inc. where we gathered with many stakeholders of Italian floating offshore wind industry. I had the opportunity to share with them insights and lessons learnt of Floatgen and, which is more important, show that BW Ideol´s technology is more mature than most of the concepts in the market and that we are ready to accomplish large scale commercial projects.

[BW Ideol Keynote in South Korea] 🇰🇷 Today, our Chief Business Development Officer, Laurent Verdier, and our APAC Business Development Manager, Mutsumi Yamada, delivered an exclusive keynote at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul, showcasing our competitive offering for serial production of concrete floating foundations. 🌊🏗️ This keynote provided a great opportunity to dive deeper into BW Ideol’s vision, following our presentation at the Korea Offshore Wind and Hydrogen Summit (KOWHS). South Korea represents a key market with significant strategic potential for BW Ideol’s standardized solutions. We are confident that the cost-efficiency and high local content of our concrete foundations offer a valuable opportunity to resolve potential supply chain constraints. We will engage individually with developers and stakeholders to promote the interest of the concrete floating foundations produced from slip-forming factories to bring a competitive and safe solution for offshore wind projects in the Eastern, Western, and Southwestern provinces. 🔧

[World Energy Day]⚡As France disclosed its upcoming offshore wind tender for 8-10 GW, with the tender process scheduled for early 2025 and including nearly 60% dedicated to floating wind, what better day to talk about floating offshore wind? The sea offers unlimited potential for producing renewable electricity, and floating offshore wind is the next major step for the industry. As you may already know, floating wind technology allows for: ▪️ Minimal Visual Impact: Located farther offshore, floating wind farms preserve coastal views while benefiting from stronger, more consistent winds. ▪️ Enhanced Efficiency: Stronger and more stable winds mean higher, more consistent power output for equivalent capacity, driving down energy costs. ▪️ Simplified Installation: BW Ideol’s floating technology streamlines installation and decommissioning, significantly reducing costs and risks. 💡At BW Ideol, we are a pure player, 100% dedicated to floating. Our confidence in floating offshore wind is built on experience. With two assets at sea, including the 2 MW Floatgen in France, we’ve demonstrated the real-world viability of floating wind. Between January 2021 and January 2024, Floatgen achieved an average availability of 92.18%, setting a monthly capacity factor record of 61.96% capacity factor in December 2023 and surpassing 30 GWh in January 2024.
