The Wyoming Senate narrowly adopted an amendment by Sen. Cheri Steinmetz that would largely defund "matching grants" programs bestowed to the governor. The some $400 million in question represents a major difference between the Senate and House versions of the budget. "Do we want to be legislating and appropriating these funds or do we want the sole discretion of the governor to make these decisions for us?" Sen. Cheri Steinmetz (R-Lingle) said. Just follow the $$ numbers
The government could spend $41 billion over four years on a tax credit for diesel and petrol, or $40 billion over 10 years helping all Australians upgrade their homes with a battery and rooftop solar. Demand for energy is rising for the first time in decades — creating the need for more infrastructure, now. The depth of demand in Q4 is deeper than we’ve ever seen before. Since the election on Tuesday, we’ve seen more than $1B bids on Crux. Yes you read that well - Sun Tax! If citizens, in mass, produce so much energy (renewable) that you could give it away for free - why tax citizens for producing energy when normally you would pay a private sector company to do the same. Think about this for a second! For the past decades, governments have subsidized the price of oil and energy projects in order to own a business model that can be taxed - not much concern here about the environment. After convincing citizens to invest $30,000 of their own money to go green, produce energy, and give the excess energy for free, the #Australian government will be taxing (aka Sun Tax). We can produce energy for (almost) free, citizens are willing to absorb the cost but at the end of the day, all level of governments are looking to replace their tax on oil with a Sun-Tax on citizens that generate free energy. Energy company Solar Run director Anthony Kurta agrees the sun tax is “extremely unfair”. At least half of its customers want a battery to avoid the sun tax, he says. “I do understand that the value of excess solar reduces in daytime hours during summer and spring. What is not considered in the government proposal is the value of the excess solar during winter and autumn, which still has considerable value to the grid,” Kurta says. #australia #renewableenergy #sintax #suntax #solarpanel https://lnkd.in/dHexjQsq

My e-newsletter is out today. Three big issues being badly handled by the government: capital gains tax increases and why they affect many more people than the government claims, while discouraging investment; the gag order on speaking positively about oil and gas; and the electricity short circuit – big plans to expand the demand for electricity but NO PLAN to increase the supply of electricity. That, say the federal officials, is a dilemma for the provinces to fix. https://lnkd.in/gXpPXSK4 #calgarycentre #yyc #cdnpoli #capitalgainstax #C59 #electricity
