𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿? My vacay in Greece taught me a few things about Pricing & Experience: Remember this saying? "The customer rarely buys what the business 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘴 it sells him. One reason for this is, of course, nobody pays for a "product". What is paid for, is 𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯." - 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 Consider: 1. I paid around 200 Euros for a return flight on Etihad, from Abu Dhabi to Athens. 2. I paid slightly less to leave my car parked at AUH airport for 9 days. 3. Hiring the car for 2 days was more expensive than the flights. 4. The apartments we stayed in averaged 150 Euros a night. 5. Visiting the Acropolis (and about half a dozen other historical sights) cost us 30 Euros each on a combined ticket. 6. We had a few amazing meals (like the one in the image below); they all had 1 thing in common - great value for the money paid (around 10-15 Euros per person, or even less). We all love a good "deal" don't we? Based on all I quoted above, it sounds like the flights, parking, historical site visits and meals were a fantastic deal. The car rental and apartments - not so much. But what if I provided extra context? e.g. the flight was on a narrow-body that was buffeted crazy by the 𝘔𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘪 (winds) while landing; or that the car rental was a smart idea given that we used it to drive up and down the Athens Riviera, which we couldn't have done otherwise. See, there's many things that go into an Experience, far beyond just Price. Ultimately, it's about the relative Value perceived and enjoyed by the Consumer.
