CDMS on an Engineered Tetrahedral Protein Cage Have you seen Lohra Mickelle Miller, Benjamin Draper and Prof Martin Jarrold's newest work on #ChargeDetectionMassSpectrometry #CDMS in PNAS! They helped protein engineering researchers (Taylor Szyszka, Tobias W. Giessen, Yu Heng Lau et al) confirm that an engineered encapsulin protein was self-assembling into a tetrahedral cage. I am not so sure we yet know how powerful it will be to quickly profile the masses of sample components ranging in MW from 0.1 to 100 MDa. We’ve all seen the viral vector heterogeneity analyses. What’s next? Highlights from the new paper: 🧬 Simple point mutations in encapsulins can alter their typical icosahedral symmetry to form tetrahedral cages. 🔍 CDMS provides instrumental analysis support to confirm the discovery. 🧪❄️ Advancing Cell Preservation Techniques! I'll be presenting tomorrow at #ISCT Europe. Join me at poster 75 to explore our latest research: "Cryoprotectant additives, including rHSA, improve iNK and iT cell health and viability during cryopreservation." This study marks a significant step forward in cryopreservation. We've demonstrated that adding our recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA) along with other cryoprotectants can substantially improve the health and viability of iNK and iT cells during freezing/thawing. Key Insights: *rHSA as a Game-Changer: It enhances cell health significantly while avoiding the risks associated with human-derived albumin. Synergistic Effects: Our findings suggest that using a combination of cryoprotectants yields even better outcomes, paving the way for new research and applications.
