📢“Beyond the Golden Triangle”: New research will explore the links between innovative clusters across the country In the last decade, Cambridge-based organisations have worked alongside universities, companies and research institutions from across the country in collaborative R&D projects funded by Innovate UK. This collaboration between regions is a cornerstone of the UK’s world-leading innovation ecosystem, but the extent of interregional connections is not well-understood and more could be done to encourage relationships between places like Cambridge and economic geographies outside of the London-Oxford-Cambridge ‘Golden Triangle’. Now, new research from The Growing Together Alliance and the Bennett Institute for Public Policy will shed light on the network of economic interconnections and innovative partnerships between regions. By mapping ‘knowledge intensive’ clusters across the country and gathering local insights on what makes economic geographies tick, this research will help support a locally-informed, evidence-based approach to regional economic growth. A great read by Alex Rossiter. Really looking forward to working with Cambridge Ahead and other North West Business Leadership Team and Growing Together Alliance colleagues to support this piece of work. Too often in economic policy discussions places are looked at in isolation - it's often much more complicated than that, as are some of the reasons businesses choose to locate in a particular town or city.
Wow. This looks really interesting. Look forward to hearing more about this when we next catch-up!

10moVery interesting insights from Alex Rossiter into how Cambridge-based businesses and institutions fuel innovation around the UK. I think this will interest many of you, including Jane Galsworthy and Jen Nelles.
