It’s disheartening to see how many companies today rely so heavily on ATS (Applicant Tracking System) software to screen candidates. While technology has its place, we’ve reached a point where a piece of software decides whether someone is “worthy” of an interview. Think about it—how many talented, hardworking individuals are overlooked because their résumés didn’t have the “right keywords”? How many potential game-changers in the workplace are denied even the chance to prove themselves because an algorithm deemed them unfit? As hiring managers, we need to reflect on this. Are we sacrificing potential, diversity, and innovation for the sake of efficiency? The human element is what makes organizations thrive, yet we’re letting it slip through the cracks. It’s time to rethink how we approach recruitment. Let’s bring the focus back to people, not just processes.
