👌 3 MORE Things Only Field Technicians in Civil Materials Testing Will Understand 😄🌍
🚧 Unexpected Terrain Twists: Think of it as an extreme sport, where today’s work site could be a smooth paved road or a wild, untamed landscape. One day you're navigating a maze of rebar, and the next, you're atop a remote hill with only sheep for company. Flexibility is our middle name!
👷♂️🕺 From PPE to Tango: Our personal protective equipment (PPE) isn't just for safety – it's a fashion statement with a purpose. But the true skill lies in maneuvering in it. Ever danced the tango in steel-toed boots and a hi-vis jacket? We do it around site obstacles daily!
🕵️♀️ The Sherlock Holmes Instinct: Field technicians are part detective, part scientist. Each site is a mystery story, and we’re the sleuths with testing equipment. The clues aren't footprints or fingerprints; they're soil consistency and aggregate size.
Rejoice in the quirks and the quiet victories; whether it's finding the perfect level spot for testing or getting that sample just right, these are the moments that make our work truly special. Here's a high-visibility salute to the field technicians! 🎩🔍

Excavation, drilling or related jobs, always is a big challenge due to underground facilities.
One the reasons that we taking permit and technical organizations/ people like Civil, Mechanical, Elec., Piping and etc. shall sign the permit it is because of preventing such accidents.
I remember an excavation without permit in one of our largest Oil Refinery Development project, which resulted to cut the high voltage power lines resulted to shut down of some important units.
We have been very lucky to just cut the wire without any human accidents.

#SCREWPILES ARE ACTION!
Have to hand it to the lads at REVEX PILING (maybe they were bored, maybe they are just passionate!) who put together a snappy vid of our team getting ready for a project... Music, bright flashing lights, short takes - it's got it all.
And while the video doesn't necessarily give you the picture of what screw piling is onsite - screw piling IS action!!!
On a recent project where we were completing #ECI (early contractor involvement) I've been communicating that screw piles are "speed, speed, speed". We can easily achieve around 8-10 piles per day that are 24m deep... good luck achieving that productivity consistently with any other methodology...
.... and not only that - we can achieve high productivities without compromising H&S nor quality!
Some situations where speed was of the essence on projects in my life have included:
- working near railway in block-of-lines.
- working near motorways, when working at night, with lots of traffic management and attenuator trucks.
- oil & gas sites where there was a limited time they can shut down an asset while the work took place.
Of course, this doesn't include pretty much every construction site where the site manager loves to ride his subcontractors hard, and get them off site ASAP!
So if you're needing SPEED on your next job - think #screwpiling.
Thanks to Travis Henri and Jared Schnell for efforts on this project.

The D-2 Shifting tool 🔥 is designed to shift baker style L sliding sleeves.
Collets come in different OD measurements and each sleeve ID will require a corresponding collet with a larger OD.
The purpose of the collet is to locate the sleeve desired to be shifted. The tool can then be extended allowing the spring loaded dogs to move outward latching the inner sleeve for shifting.
The collet design allows locating and shifting any desired sleeve in a completion with two or more sleeves.
The selective collet feature includes both the opening and closing L sleeves.
The tool requires a specific distance from the square face of the shifting dog to the collet locating profile.
This measurement is done with the tool in the retracted position and allows for the shifting tool to disengage the sleeve when the shifting sequence is complete.
Although the shifting tool can be deliberately released three steel shear pins are incorporated at the base of the shifting dogs allowing for a safety release feature.
To shift L type sliding sleeves in a controlled selective manner.
Procedure: Run upright to open sleeves and run in the inverted position to close sleeves.
Good morning friends and colleagues, what could you add? ☕..

Caught by associate! While my work 100% major entirely in #crane#engineering, I neglected my #lift and #escalator SPE/LEI works.
Today, under his strict 1-1 supervision for quality work, I finally tackled my first escalator modernization work and first logged in LEAP for submission as #SPE.
Lesson taught by associate: balance is key!
