Good speech is a functional requirement for all humans, for multiple purposes - as basic as speaking to friends & family, among many others. However, a human born with a cleft at birth, is unable to enjoy the privilege of good speech and has to work hard over years, with the help of experts and support from family, to improve their speech so as to carry on with day-to-day tasks which require communicating verbally with others.
