Part 2️⃣ of the Series: Insights from BEACON 🔎👀: Understanding Cancer Care Disparities in Central and Eastern Europe: A Patient-Centered Perspective BEACON's publication, "Patients’ Perspectives on Cancer Care Disparities in Central and Eastern European Countries," delves into the unique challenges faced by cancer patients in Slovakia and Croatia. Despite advancements in oncological medicine, disparities in access to comprehensive cancer care persist, particularly in these regions. Through focus group discussions, patients revealed significant barriers such as misinformation, healthcare system inefficiencies, and socio-economic impacts. This study emphasizes the urgent need for targeted interventions to reduce disparities and promote inclusive healthcare across Europe. By amplifying patients' voices, BEACON aims to inform policy changes and resource allocation strategies that can improve cancer care outcomes. 🔗 Explore the publication: https://lnkd.in/dZjx6rDT Veronica Coppini Maria Vittoria Ferrari Margherita Dahò Iva Kirac Ira Renko Dario Monzani Roberto Grasso Gabriella Pravettoni #CancerCare #HealthcareDisparities #PatientVoices #EUHealth #BEACONProject

💡 Innovation needs to be at the core of cancer care 💡 When we developed #Liberty, we knew innovative thinking was crucial to our mission. Remote cancer care is not just essential for overcoming the many challenges the healthcare system faces, but it's also a powerful way to improve patients’ experiences throughout their treatment journey. It’s encouraging to see the UK Government echo this sentiment in the National Cancer Plan. Layla M. MP, Chair of the Committee, stated: “Our predecessor Committee warned that the current system of cancer care seemed ‘preoccupied with ‘firefighting’ immediate issues’ rather than looking to the future. It called for the redevelopment and publication of a long-term strategy for cancer with innovation at its core.” Although the timeline for the National Cancer Plan is unclear, Entia is ready to drive the adoption of digital solutions like #Liberty, enabling healthcare professionals to deliver proactive, patient-first care. #NHSLongTermPlan #NationalCancerPlan #CancerCare #HealthcareInnovation #Liberty #DigitalHealth #RemotePatientMonitoring #NHS #HospitalAtHome

Using data to drive forward changes in cancer services! 💻 The 2024/25 Operational Guidance highlights the crucial need to expand Targeted Lung Health checks (TLC), where all patients with a smoking history are required to be invited for a Lung Health Check by 2029. 🫁 In February 2024, the TU supported West Midlands Cancer Alliance to model current and future capacity across the Lung Cancer Pathway, to support delivery and the aspirations of the TLC programme. The model developed is adaptable and can be changed depending on a number of different scenarios. This is a great tool to help programmes determine areas of investment or capacity challenges. 💡 As we mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month, this piece of work becomes even more significant/ Early detection through targeted screenings, is critical to improving lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. We can't afford to wait - data driven approaches and investments in lung cancer services are essential to saving lives.
