EUTRADE European Business Club is growing

Reflecting on a Remarkable Year at BPCC! 🇬🇧🇵🇹 Yesterday, we held our AGM at BPCC - British Portuguese Chamber of Commerce, reflecting on our achievements and key milestones from the past year. Despite navigating the challenges of rising inflation, high interest rates and the lingering effects of COVID-19, we successfully hosted 60 diverse events, averaging more than one per week. These events included business networking events, brainstorming lunches, business breakfasts, webinars, training sessions, lunch debates, trade missions, trade fairs, and workshops, encompassing all regions of the country. Highlights included the Future of Cities Summit, which has become a hallmark event, and numerous high-profile debates, showcasing our commitment to fostering dialogue on crucial topics. Our adaptability and resilience were on full display as we expanded our digital presence, launched a podcast page for members, and engaged in successful trade missions and international events. We also celebrated the spirit of community through events like the Annual Summer Garden Party, BPCC's Gala Dinner or our Corporate Lunch. As we look ahead, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our loyal members, Directors, and the dedicated BPCC team. 💡 We've been a #BCorp for so long that we're now in the process of renewing our certification! We obtained our B Corp certification in 2021, and as the certification lasts three years, it's time to get it renewed. Why do we value this certification? ➡️ Because it guarantees the positive and transparent nature of our day-to-day work. This certification recognises that we act in the public interest: EcoTree is not satisfied with generating profits, it works to serve society and the environment. ➡️ Because being part of the B Lab France network and B Lab Nordics network is an asset for any company. ➡️ Because it is a certification that obliges us to our partners, our employees and society as a whole. Obtaining B Corp certification is not the end goal; it's a starting point for developing new actions that have a positive impact. So what's next? 👇🏼 The certification's value is directly correlated with the length and rigour of its process. To renew this certification, we answered over 300 questions in 6 different categories, work meticulously carried out by Louisiane Guezel, whom we'd like to thank very much! Time to reflect on this week's South Yorkshire International Trade Conference. Led by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce with the expertise of Sheffield International Trade Centre-SITC, this years conference saw us host over 135 delegates from across the UK and Europe, all with the common mission of expanding their international trade aspirations. Providing a space for collaboration and knowledge sharing, key discussion points included Brexit and CBAM, customs duties and import taxes, quicker access to export finance, and accelerating growth in international markets, all with an impending change of UK government. As a region, we all agreed it's vitally important that we support the ambitions of our world-renowned manufacturers and exporters, alongside the burgeoning sectors of Ed Tech, Med Tech, and Clean Tech. A joined-up approach from key regional stakeholders is pivotal to providing sustained economic growth through key initiatives such as the Investment Zone. To that end, it was fantastic to have The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire, Made In Sheffield, British Chambers of Commerce, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Doncaster Chamber, and Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce all in attendance offering insight and thoughts. What to expect on Awards Night: Many people think Awards Ceremonies are just for finalists, however, that’s not necessarily true. Of course, a ceremony wouldn’t be complete without these people, but an awards night is so important for so many reasons. Firstly, they act as a great way to entertain your staff, letting them blow off steam after a long and busy year. You can also use it as a way of thanking clients for all of their support throughout the previous 12 months. Secondly, it’s great for networking. It’s not often that you can be in a room with hundreds of your peers, so see it as a chance to network. Find out what other people are doing well (and not so well) and make contacts for the future. You never know when knowing an extra contractor will come in handy. Thirdly, it’s a great way to boost team morale. So many hours are spent onsite/in offices with a disproportionate amount of time spent having fun outside of work. Change that by attending an industry awards night together and having some fun – and maybe add the cherry on top by winning a Silver or Gold Award in one of the various categories. This year, the National Building and Construction Awards will be held at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, Tower Bridge, London on Thursday, October 24th, with a three-course meal, wine and fantastic entertainment included in the ticket price.
