Ready for some disappointing news? According to the Sustainable Development Goals Index, only 16% of the SDGs are on track to be met. Many of the targets that are particularly off-track relate to food systems, biodiversity, and sustainable land use. Some goals show either insufficient progress or a REVERSAL. That's crazy. Yet, many think tanks think mostly about their image when shying away from collaborations with the private sector, despite the private sector having access to massive resources and unique accelerator networks. The world is way past the luxury of selectively picking our partners for optimal brand synergies. The good news is that Clim-Eat stands out as willing to uncover unconventional routes, leaving the blueprint behind for other players trying to enact meaningful change. On August 27th, Clim-Eat is bringing together world-leading experts to discuss how we can unlock private-sector innovation in three domains that have the potential to transform our food systems. One step at a time.
In collaboration with the Laudes Foundation, we are thrilled to host the third edition of our online Think Table series, this time on unlocking private sector innovation - an exclusive online series where we put our bold bets for the future of food systems to the test with world-leading experts. Here, we will dive deep into the key insights from our research and explore three transformative domains: 1️⃣ Plant Nutrition 🌱 2️⃣ Sustainable Livestock 🐄 3️⃣ Next-Generation Crops 🌾 Our expert authors, Leanne Zeppenfeldt, Philip Thornton, Annebelle Rombach, and Dr Dhanush Dinesh, guide us through the challenges and opportunities in #privatesectorinnovation and how to unlock their potential. 🔎 To get a head start, check out the summary of our paper here: https://lnkd.in/eWyUJ5xe 📅 Event Date: August 27th 📍 Location: Online Are you working in one of these domains and would like to contribute to the discussion? Then send us a message! See you there 🤝

🎉 Congratulations to Multus for launching Proliferum® B - an animal component-free alternative to FBS! 🌟 Multus’ mission is to make cultivated meat affordable for everyone. 🚧 The problem: FBS (Fetal Bovine Serum) is expensive, unreliable and unethical, while its replacements are costly and slow to develop, delaying the scale-up of cultivated meat. ✅ The solution: Multus’ Proliferum® B is an animal component-free replacement made for cultivated meat production across a range of cell lines. When compared to FBS, Proliferum® B has the potential to deliver: ✅ Faster Growth: Shorter doubling times for multiple cell types ✅ Consistent Results: Maintained performance over multiple passages ✅ More Sustainable Outcomes: An ethical, animal component-free alternative to FBS 🎊 It’s incredible to see Multus end the year with such a huge announcement. ✳️ Congratulations to the whole team! ⚡ We are incredibly proud to support you as you reach this significant milestone in helping accelerate cultivated meat’s journey from lab to market. ➡️ Click here to read more about how Multus is helping to create more sustainable food systems: https://www.multus.bio/ #GreenTech #BioTech #SustainableTech #ClimateChange

#Plantmolecularfarming gaining momentum with Moolec Science, the 1st company being approved in the US for its porcine myoglobin (not for commercialisation yet). “The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) determined that Moolec's genetically engineered soybean, accumulating animal meat protein, is unlikely to pose an increased plant pest risk relative to non-engineered soybeans”. ➡ This will enable Moolec to plant and transport its product “Piggy Sooy” soybeans without needing permits. ➡ Launched in 2021 as a spin-off of Bioceres Crop Solutions and based in Luxembourg. Moolec is also working on other animal protein as functional ingredients to improve flavour, color, texture and nutrition of meat alternatives. ➡ PMF has been recognised more affordable and an easily scalable option to cell cultivation or precision fermentation. This will accelerate advancements for other PMF companies, such as Alpine Bio (focussed on caseins), Miruku (dairy protein & fats), Forte Protein Inc. (lactoferrin, casein, collagen, albumen, etc.), Asterix Foods (glycoprotein), NewMoo (caseins), Mozza Foods (casein), PoLoPo (ovalbumin), VELOZBIO (egg and dairy proteins), Kyomei (animal protein), etc. #innovation #futureoffood #alternativeprotein
We are delighted to share with everyone the conquer of our latest milestone: We have achieved USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) approval for our Piggy Sooy™ marking an unprecedented landmark in biotechnology with the first-ever approval of this kind! In the words of our own Gastón Paladini: “We are unlocking the power of plants by leveraging science to overcome climate change and global food security concerns. I am very proud of the Moolec team, creating value for shareholders and the planet at the same time”. Thanks for sharing your insights Ivo Lansbergen ! I would add that besides “Sustainability is not a cost”! Sustainability is also not an option! It’s an imperative to all of us, that must be tackled together across the different players across the value chains, and a responsibility when we are industry leaders like we are! Technology, data and AI will certainly play its role and accelerate the process, but all of it starts with leadership, commitment and recognising the importance of it. And we do it, while we guarantee affordable and the best animal protein on everybody’s plate, an profitable business to animal farmers, and together with our customers and partners. Never at the cost of the planet! #sustainability #animalfarming #precisionservices
A great start to the week at IPPE in Atlanta, USA! I had the honor of kicking off a session on precision services for some of our LATAM customers, highlighting the business opportunities linked to more sustainable animal protein. I believe that artificial intelligence will play a significant role in improving animal origin-food in a sustainable way, by empowering the industry to: 1) Have clearer insights into what’s happening in their operations, 2) Act sooner based on likely predicted outcomes and 3) Achieve more through improved efficiency. In my view, sustainability is not a cost, but a strategic business driver. Improvements through precision nutrition will deliver productivity gains that lead to improved profitability and a lower environmental footprint. That lower footprint has value that can be monetized. At dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health, we intelligently work to make the invisible visible. Our innovative Precision Services are designed to provide deeper insights and actionable data that enable our partners to optimize their operations effectively. By leveraging AI and precision nutrition, we can help producers make informed decisions that drive both economic and environmental benefits. It's inspiring to see the industry come together to discuss these critical topics and share knowledge. The enthusiasm and commitment to advancing sustainable practices are palpable, and I'm excited by the positive impact I believe we can achieve collectively. Thank you to everyone: customers, partners – IFC Agribusiness, Deloitte, HowGood and colleagues who attended the session and contributed to the meaningful discussions. Let's continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in animal nutrition and health, ensuring a more sustainable future for all.
