Water is essential for life, but millions of people around the world lack access to clean and safe water sources. This is especially true in Eritrea in the Horn of Africa, where only one in five people have clean water close to home. Wells and rivers are contaminated and boreholes are in poor repair, forcing women and children to walk long distances and posing health risks. That’s why this month, we are supporting the Zoba Debub Community Boreholes project, a carbon offset project that aims to provide clean and safe water to rural communities in Eritrea while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from wood burning. Almost 100 rural boreholes have been upgraded since 2016, and with our backing and other B=Corp businesses contributing, the project can accelerate.
