I am incredibly proud of my daughter, Julia Capasso who visited El Paso and witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking challenges faced by the immigrant children at the border. Moved by their incredible stories and struggles, she has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support these families in need. If you can, please consider supporting it by contributing and sharing. https://gofund.me/871042ac

2.4 MILLION PEOPLE UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency has estimated that a staggering 2.4 million people will be forcibly displaced in 2024. This is a 20% increase since last year, meaning that the refugee crisis is accelerating, and so must our efforts to combat it. That's: 2.4 million people in need of shelter. 2.4 million people in need of food. 2.4 million people in need of medical and social support. 2.4 million people in need of humanity. This problem is by no means an easy fix, but at Indigo we believe that small actions create a big impact. In 2023 we placed 334 volunteers who contributed to 26,857 days of volunteering for our wonderful charity partners who work tirelessly to provide essential aid and support to refugees across Europe. 👉Find out more about Indigo Volunteers, and what you can do to make a difference in the lives of refugees: https://lnkd.in/eixGmTEB

On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, we spotlight our Play to Protect programme in Kenya, aimed at reducing the vulnerability of refugees to gender-based violence (GBV). 🌍 Here are the facts: ◾ GBV is violence directed against a person because of their gender, or impacts a particular gender disproportionately. ◾ Women and girls comprise half of the global refugee population. ◾ The risk of GBV increases with displacement- affecting over 60 million women and girls. Over the last three years, Play 2 Protect supported 24,000 adolescents and 1,100 sport officials, teachers, and community leaders. This initiative is implemented by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in collaboration with FilmAid Kenya, International Rescue Committee and Kenya Red Cross, 👉 To support us in our work in promoting safety and resilience of young women affected by displacement, consider donating here: https://lnkd.in/ehnmrQzb
