Latest Publication Alert in the Journal of Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy# In our quest to advance a cleaner environment and sustainable system, we unveiled an innovative approach to tackling heavy metal contamination in landfill leachate. Magnetic biochar nanocomposite was synthesized from oil palm fronds, demonstrating a highly efficient method for removing copper (II) ions from wastewater. With an impressive adsorption capacity of 63.45 mg/g and a 96.3% removal efficiency, this biochar proves to be a sustainable and cost-effective solution for addressing toxic metal pollution. The magnetic biochar can be reused efficiently, maintaining 85.92% of its adsorption capacity after five cycles. ✅ This research opens new possibilities for wastewater treatment using renewable biomass waste, contributing to cleaner, safer water systems. Tera, I whole heartedly agree with this assessment and would like to add. Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) saves the energy and costs associated with the infrastructure and maintenence of carbon removals which condense CO2 gas. By stabilizing the carbon into a solid like biochar, before it is reduced to CO2 gas. We avoid the energy and infrastructure needs for sequestration of a gas; condensing it, transporting it and injecting it into the geology. Gaining the energy of the biochar conversation, we also can displace fossil fuels. Not to mention we avoid the risk of transporting and storing a CO2 gas. Direct effects of a gas leak occuring while condensing, transport or injection, can be suffocation of nearby fauna (humans) with CO2. Cumulative effects if a leak are to the atmosphere. This risk is absent with a solid like biochar. In closing when we capture CO2 from the atmosphere with capture equipment. Our CO2 intake port is limited by the scale and efficency of the equipment. If we rely on vegetation as the CO2 capture, we have less work and the intake of CO2, is vast and as efficient as the flora on Earth.

Microalgae-Based Wastewater Treatment: A Circular Approach for Sustainability and Carbon Capture Harnessing the power of microalgae in wastewater treatment is a game-changer for sustainability. 🧪The process begins with a Pure Culture Maintenance Lab, feeding into both indoor and outdoor inoculation ponds, where nutrients, CO₂, and water facilitate algae growth. 📍Algae in the cultivation pond treats wastewater while absorbing CO₂. The harvested algae undergoes centrifugation, separating biomass from water. We’re excited to announce that our latest research in the COLUMBUS has been published in the Journal of CO2 Utilisation! 🚢🌍 In this paper, with Jordy Motte as main author, the team conducted a life cycle assessment on the production and utilisation of E-methane, including CO2 capture from lime production. This promising fuel can replace fossil fuels currently used in the maritime sector, helping to reduce the environmental impacts of the shipping industry.
