Today, July 30th is “World Day Against Human Trafficking.” According to the United Nations, by January 2024 there were at least 49.6 million people in modern-day slavery worldwide, and 12 million of them were children. Poverty, conflict, climate change, violence, and a host of other reasons leave many humans especially children vulnerable to human traffickers. As a world society, we must all do our part to prevent and stop the suffering of all those who fall victim to trafficking. Together, we can break the chains. Stand up for justice. #WorldDayAgainstTraffickingInPersons #WorldDayAgainstHumanTrafficking

Vulnerable children sit at the crux of multiple compounding crises and conflict globally including poverty, conflict, climate change, and more. The United States Government has come together to develop an interagency approach to promote children’s safety, well-being, and development globally through the #ThriveStrategy. With USAID taking the lead, we hope to see strengthened commitment to #ChildrenInAdversity across the government and in USAID programming worldwide. The recent report by Najat Maalla M’Jid, the United Nations Special Representative on Violence Against Children, is both alarming and urgent. It reveals a stark reality: violence against children has reached unprecedented levels, with millions of children worldwide suffering from various forms of abuse—both online and offline. From physical and #psychological violence to child labor, trafficking, and cyberbullying, no country or child is immune. #Governments, #organizations, and #individuals must work collaboratively to address these threats, not only by implementing strong protective measures but by empowering communities, ensuring #children remain in school, and creating safe spaces—both physically and digitally. Addressing violence against children is not just a task for policy makers, but for every one of us. Let’s stand together and push for action on this critical issue.
Deeply alarming new findings in new United Nations report: Levels of violence against children worldwide are at an all-time high and rising. No country is immune, no child is immune. https://lnkd.in/dE-jpfSz

Online crimes are real crimes and must be treated as such. Yes, we have bigger and more visible challenges in Africa - poverty, conflict, hunger, inadequate access to quality education and health services. Name them. But, online violence is equally real and rising at an alarming rate, especially targeting children. If not tamed, the impact could be devastating. Counter protest... It's absolutely mind-boggling that the government has once again resorted to weaponizing poverty. They've gone so far as to pay a small group of individuals to counter-protest against a legitimate demonstration intended to address crucial national issues. This tactic of manipulating vulnerable populations to stifle genuine calls for change is deeply troubling. Such actions not only undermine the democratic process but also highlight the lengths to which those in power will go to maintain control. It’s tactics like these that truly make me cringe and question the integrity of our leadership. This is the kind of democracy we fashioned for ourselves. #WeaponizingPoverty #ProtestForChange #DemocracyUndermined #GovernmentTactics #NationalConcerns #SocialJustice #ManipulationExposed #StandForTruth #Linkedincreator
