This #WorldChildrensDay, let your voice be heard. Vulnerable children around the world - including in the USA - are not receiving the care and protection they deserve. It doesn’t have to be this way. If you want to help shape the future for a better tomorrow, urge Congress to center the rights and needs of children in their decision-making, to stand up for child protection and against child poverty, and support international partnership and peace: https://lnkd.in/gJzaxYPZ

Proud to be affiliated with this. Save the Children does not have a lot of money to spend on mass media and won’t do it unless the stakes are incredibly high. Save is the organisation that first opened my eyes to the levels of child poverty in the UK and it is sickening to know the extent of the problem now, and to see it worsening over time and know that trend will continue if this grim policy is allowed to stand. Starmer says there’s no ‘silver bullet’ for this complex issue and that’s right of course, we need a nuanced, holistic, long term, systems-based approach to tackle this issue, BUT. Rare is the time when there’s so much evidence behind one relatively simple step that can be taken that will immediately transform a national crisis for the better, in this case by elevating the life chances of over a million children. So as state interventions go maybe it’s at least silver plated and vaguely bullet-shaped…
We're in Keir Starmer's constituency to remind him of the impact the cruel 2 child limit has on 1 in every 9 children in the UK, punishing those with two or more siblings through capped financial support. Some solutions don't need a task force. Scrapping this one policy could lift over 500,000 children out of poverty. Keir, it's time for YOUR government to scrap the #2ChildLimit

Today, July 30th is “World Day Against Human Trafficking.” According to the United Nations, by January 2024 there were at least 49.6 million people in modern-day slavery worldwide, and 12 million of them were children. Poverty, conflict, climate change, violence, and a host of other reasons leave many humans especially children vulnerable to human traffickers. As a world society, we must all do our part to prevent and stop the suffering of all those who fall victim to trafficking. Together, we can break the chains. Stand up for justice. #WorldDayAgainstTraffickingInPersons #WorldDayAgainstHumanTrafficking

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This year's theme is "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking" and we recognize that children represent a significant portion of trafficking victims worldwide. We advocate for programs addressing vulnerabilities such as poverty and inequality, and support the allocation of resources to combat child trafficking and the burgeoning issue of online exploitation. ACT Alberta does not provide services to children and youth under the age of 18, as this group is covered under Alberta legislation called the Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act, and government services are responsible for managing their care. It's almost here! As the 2024 provincial election fast approaches, let's continue to urge the government to stop policing families and start supporting them. Today is also the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, an important reminder that fully resourcing struggling families needs to be a top priority for the government. We’re asking provincial parties and candidates to commit to 5 key actions, from directing funding to Indigenous Nations and communities to truly supporting families struggling with poverty. Whether or not you’re eligible to vote, you can use the Family Well-Being Election Toolkit to inform your conversations with candidates, parties, and the people in your life. Poverty is a leading cause of child abuse and neglect. "By 1990, no child will live in poverty", Bob Hawke. How did that work out? Here we are, 38 years after Hawke's promise, with an average of 17600 children UNDER 12 sleeping rough every night. If you agree that this is completely unacceptable, don't just sit there doing nothing about it. Join the Child Protection Party, help us get sufficient numbers to register the Party in your state then we can run candidates for Parliament and, if elected, try to do something about it. https://lnkd.in/ggcmbSkw Membership is only $20/year DOING NOTHING IS NOT AN OPTION https://lnkd.in/ge_PcsYa

Your message highlights a crucial issue affecting vulnerable children. Advocating for child protection and addressing child poverty is vital for building a sustainable future. It's important that we all engage in these conversations and encourage policymakers to take action for those who cannot speak for themselves. How can we further promote this cause in our communities?
