Mingle, share ideas, and share intros to your connections for future collaborations …but let’s not forget it can be an opportunity for some much needed relaxation and a rare chance to unwind. In the motor trade, it’s early starts and late nights, we put our body on the line for our companies, constantly pursuing improvement, chasing deadlines and seemingly impossible targets, stressing a lot, and often sweating the small stuff- it’s easy to get caught up in it- EVERTHING is urgent- but sometimes we need to take a step back and a deep breath. It’s an incredibly fast paced industry that attracts winners, mastery is super important to them, people that naturally put that pressure on themselves to always perform and be the very best. It’s probably why it’s littered with ex pro athletes for example. I love this quote- it’s hung up in the office in my house. Hopefully it resonates, and makes an impression with some of you. Whether your at the awards or in the office- have a fabulous day!

A vulnerable and exciting update for my network: A little over a year ago, when I joined The Admin Effect as their Chief Marketing Officer, I stepped out of my comfort zone and really put my imposter syndrome to the test. I could confidently tell an office how many seminars they would need to hold to meet their growth goals for the year. I could identify gaps in branding and deliverables for a company, create and execute a social media calendar, and organize a client events schedule. However, I had no idea what Firelight was. I didn't know what a replacement application entailed. I didn't fully grasp the difference between a carrier and a custodian. The only thing I knew about a Roth IRA was simply that I had one. And don't even ask me to explain the difference between qualified and non-qualified funds. The list goes on... I share this because, in a matter of months, with the guidance and support of our incredible team, I learned what Firelight was (spoiler: it's not the song by Owl City). I learned the significance of IRA types in applications, and the difference between qualified and non-qualified funds. This knowledge allowed me to develop effective case management training, forecast how many applications our team can complete in a day, and streamline money movement timeframes and strategies. Let my experience during the past year be a testament to the true power of The Admin Effect. Our service offering, and ESPECIALLY our training program, was created with the framework that I followed to get to this point, and that our team has followed as well. A special shoutout to our Leadership Team for pushing me toward this opportunity and giving me the grace and confidence to take on this new role. I love what I do, and I feel lucky to be able to do it every day. Cheers to an exciting year ahead! 🥂

THE HISTORY AND PRESENT STATE OF THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IN AMERICA CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE WORD: BROKEN DON'T BE FOOLED BY SLICK PROMOTIONAL POSTS THAT MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOUR LOCAL, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS ARE SOLVING THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS. WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, THE PUBLIC AND TAXPAYERS MUST ASK: AT WHAT COST TO THE TAXPAYERS AND HOW LONG IS THE AFFORDABILITY PERIOD? EVERY TAXPAYER SHOULD BE ASKING THEIR ELECTED AND APPOINTED OFFICIALS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS: 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, density bonus increase, waivers of impact fees, or other government benefit or incentive did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project and, if the affordability period is not in perpetuity or permanent, WHY NOT? 3. What guarantees exist that tenants in the affordable housing units will not be displaced after an "affordability period expires? Any LOCAL, STATE or FEDERAL official that does not MANDATE "permanent" affordability periods or affordability "IN PERPETUITY" for any project receiving some government benefit is commiting MALFEASANCE and should quit, be removed from office or be terminated. IN MOST CASES WHEN IT COMES TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING, the public and taxpayer are being fooled into thinking their elected and appointed officials are solving problems, when in fact, all hey have done is "KICK THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD" to burden a future generation with the same problem or crisis!

Two weeks ago I logged out for the last time as a Kalmar employee 🛻 A nearly four-year journey came to an end due to organizational changes. An unfortunate turn of events? Definitely. End of the world? No. Grateful for the experience? 100%. Life goes on and the rat race will continue elsewhere. To summarize my Kalmar experience here, within one post, would be an impossible task. Although the last years were quite the roller coaster ride, I am truly thankful for holding on and facing each new turn with curiosity and an open mind. Not only did I learn to embrace the importance of leadership development among other people and culture topics, but also was able to witness first-hand how an international organization collaborates and handles cargo around the world. Quite the learning journey, to say the least. However, this front-row seat to the global economy would not have been as enjoyable without the people sitting next to me. Feel fortunate to have been trusted by experienced professionals and to be surrounded by easy-to-approach colleagues. To all the people I met along the way, I appreciate you all. Thank you Tuukka Keskinen, Ville Karkiainen and the HR Leadership Team! Thank you Hanna Björkestam, Gabriela Gamero Gorostiza and the HRD team! Last, but not least, thank you Marika Väkiparta and the CTO team! Never has jumping into the deep end felt as exciting. Joined the company without really knowing where my path will take me. Leaving the company on the same note. Once one door closes, another opens. A rather invigorating thought, isn't it? As the next career step is still a question mark, the following few weeks will be spent by helping my parents renovate, by continuing to plan a personal project, and by listening to loud guitar music in live format both near and far. However, should anyone know of any opportunities and want to disrupt these plans (how rude?), feel free to contact me! I'm all ears. The year 2025 should be an exciting one.
