🌟 Celebrating Youth Employment Week! 🌟 This week, we shine a spotlight on the incredible potential of young people entering the workforce. Youth Employment Week is a time to recognise the importance of empowering our youth to explore and choose their career paths confidently. 💼✨ For many young individuals, the journey from education to employment is a crucial phase filled with opportunities and challenges. It’s a time when they discover their passions, develop new skills, and shape their future. Supporting them through this transition is not just important—it's essential. 🌱🚀 However, for military children, this journey can be uniquely challenging. With frequent relocations, adjusting to new schools, and the absence of a parent due to deployment, military children face hurdles that require additional support. These young individuals often exhibit remarkable resilience but also need our help navigating these complexities and thriving. 🏠🎓 Here's why children from military families need our extra attention: Frequent Moves: On average, military families move every 2-3 years. This disrupts their education and makes it difficult to build a stable support network. Educational Gaps: Different schools have different curricula, making it tough for military children to keep up academically. Emotional Challenges: The stress of a parent’s deployment and the constant need to adapt to new environments can take an emotional toll. Limited Career Guidance: With the instability in their lives, many military children might miss out on consistent career guidance and mentorship opportunities. By offering tailored support, mentorship, and resources, we can help military children overcome these barriers and achieve their full potential. Let's come together this Youth Employment Week to celebrate the ambition and talent of our youth and commit to providing the necessary support for those who need it most. Empowering young people, especially those from military families, to choose their path confidently is an investment in our future. 💪🌍 Forces Employment Charity #YouthEmploymentWeek #EmpowerYouth #CareerDevelopment #FutureLeaders #MentorshipMatters Leanne Athena Dunmill Sian Kerr Kate Mai Sarah Peñaluna MSc Tanja Allen Ria Luke Meresa Lewis

Along side my coworker, Deona Dorsey, I get to bring job readiness training into reentry facilitiesto help this hidden talent pool identify and articulate their skills to find a career that brings them as much joy as I mine does. Check out this article I wrote about the value of Second Chance Month and the fulfilling work we do to cultivate a successful reentry into the workforce.

🗳 The results are in: New Jobs for the Future (JFF) #voterpoll reveals that 84% of the voters we surveyed want policymakers to help provide better guidance to people to help them find education, training, and career options that fit their needs and that lead to jobs that pay family sustaining wages. Unfortunately, too many young people leave high school without clarity on where they're going next or how to get there. They face a vast array of degree and nondegree options but lack the information on which paths lead to #qualityjobs. That's why JFF partnered with American Student Assistance to create the ASA Center for Career Navigation. There are many exciting things coming from the Center!
