Protecting the National Eye Institute (NEI) The NEI is a critical pillar of vision science, advancing life-changing research that benefits millions. But it's currently under threat of consolidation, which could limit its ability to operate independently and hinder progress in vision health breakthroughs. Now more than ever, we must advocate to keep the NEI as a standalone institute. Additionally, increased funding for the NIH and NEI is essential to continue this groundbreaking work, ensuring that innovation in vision research is not compromised. Let's unite to preserve the NEI and the future of vision health! https://bit.ly/4bck7TS

📢 NAEVR Joins Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research to Support Robust NIH Funding We are proud to sign on as a supporter of the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research’s letter urging US Congress to finalize the FY 2025 Labor-HHS spending bill with at least $48.9 billion for The National Institutes of Health, plus funding for Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). https://bit.ly/497qWWS The NIH drives groundbreaking discoveries that save lives, improve health, and bolster our economy. However, only 1 in 5 promising research proposals currently receive funding—leaving life-changing opportunities on the table. Sustained and predictable funding growth is critical to ensuring the U.S. remains a global leader in medical innovation. Together, we’re advocating for investments that will advance cures, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen the biomedical workforce. Let’s protect the future of research and innovation! 💡 #AdvocacyMatters #VisionResearch #SaveNIH #BiomedicalResearch

The last day to sign our National Institutes of Health (NIH) Letter calling on the director to fund the ME/CFS Research Roadmap is this Friday, November 15th! It will take all of us, ALL OF US, to show that we are united, and urgently need the support of the roadmap to provide treatments and fight for a cure. US signers: https://lnkd.in/e99rsvdT International signers: https://lnkd.in/e3TpjnTE There are many unknowns about what changes the incoming presidential administration here in the United States will require at the NIH in the coming years, but that does not mean we will stop working to better the world for people living with ME! We’ve made enormous progress within the NIH for the research roadmap but we must let them know the roadmap must be funded for real progress to happen! And our best chance for getting funding is RIGHT NOW. Time is ticking. We will not wait any longer for progress! As one of #MEAction’s amazing advocates, Wilhelmina Jenkins said, “Why make a roadmap without providing the gas!” We can do this together! #pwME #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #MECFS #LongCovid #NIH #research #Science ID: Black square with white text and red accents. Text: NIH, fund the ME/CFS Research Roadmap! Deadline to sign 11/15/24.
