Exciting News: Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) has officially submitted a bid to host the prestigious 2027 International Federation of Freight Agencies (FIATA) World Congress! This global event brings together over 1,000 logistics leaders and industry stakeholders from around the world. EFFSAA's bid comes after previous attempts for the 2022 and 2025 congresses were impacted by security concerns in the northern region. However, with a strong proposal presented by Dawit Woubishet, EFFSAA President, at the recent FIATA meeting in Geneva, Ethiopia is now competing against the Czech Republic for the hosting rights. By withdrawing bids from Israel and Brazil, Ethiopia has positioned itself as a top contender for the 2027 congress. Dawit emphasized the importance of securing sponsors and ensuring sustained security to secure the bid, along with highlighting government support and Addis Ababa's tourist attractions. With FIATA having only held three congresses in Africa in its 100-year history, Ethiopia's bid is particularly significant, especially in light of the African Continental Free Trade Area. The host announcement is set to take place in September 2024 at the Panama City World Congress. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development! #FIATAWorldCongress #EFFSAA #LogisticsLeaders #IndustryStakeholders #EthiopiaHostingBid #AfricanTradeArea #GlobalEvent Source: Capital Ethiopia

Miller Matola, CEO of Millvest Investments, shared his thoughts at the SAACI Annual Congress in July 2024 on the opportunities and growth trajectory of the #MICE sector in Africa. “Africa is increasingly becoming a competitive player in the global events market,” he told patron member South Africa National Conventions Bureau (SANCB) in a video interview, pointing out that Africa currently holds just 2% of the nearly $800 billion global MICE market. “We have organisations such as the African Union, Africa Continental Trade Area Agreement Secretariat and other multilateral organisations that actually help host hundreds of events on the continent. There is an opportunity for African countries to collaborate with these multilateral organisations to grow the mice market on the continent,” he called on the industry. Watch the video to find out more about why South Africa is becoming a leader in the MICE industry. Morocco's Strategic Atlantic Initiative for Sahelian Countries 🇲🇦 On November 6, 2024, during the 49th anniversary of the Green March, His Majesty King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to providing landlocked Sahelian countries with strategic access to the Atlantic Ocean. This initiative aims to integrate Sahelian nations into Moroccan logistics chains, boosting regional economic development and reinforcing South-South cooperation. The project aligns with the Atlantic Initiative launched in November 2023, which seeks to transform Southern Moroccan provinces into an economic hub. This transformation will facilitate access to the Atlantic for Sahelian countries and stimulate trade. Ministerial meetings have already been held to coordinate the implementation of this vision, reflecting a shared commitment to its success. By offering an Atlantic interface to Sahelian countries, Morocco aspires to create an economic corridor linking Atlantic Africa to northern and western hemispheres, while enhancing access to international markets. This strategy envisions transforming the Atlantic interface into a space for human connection and economic integration, reinforcing Morocco's role as a gateway between Africa and the rest of the world. This initiative presents a significant opportunity for Sahelian nations, enabling them to overcome geographic challenges and actively participate in global trade. It also exemplifies Morocco's vision of promoting shared growth and sustainable development on a regional scale. #Morocco #GreenMarch #Sahel #AtlanticInitiative #EconomicDevelopment #SouthSouthCooperation #RegionalIntegration #StrategicAccess
