First Jet landing at Skagen Norway ENSK Pilatus PC-24 Flight Conditions: This flight was conducted during winter, as operating under more challenging conditions provided a true test of the aircraft's capabilities. A summer flight would have presented fewer obstacles. Runway Length is 923 meters (grooved runway) wet, wet, wet RNP AR 0.3 approach Final GPS approach offset by 15° due to terrain Above artic circle operation Snowstorm during approach, icing conditions Low visibility down to minimum The aircraft was in a light weight configuration. Supernal four-passenger S-A2 eVTOL aircraft made its international debut at the Farnborough Airshow 2024.The aircraft is uniquely designed to get people in urban areas to their destinations faster, and leverages expertise from Supernal’s innovative aerospace engineering teams in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group’s automotive designers and manufacturing teams. Built to cruise at 120 miles per hour at altitudes between 1,000 and 1,500 feet above ground level, S-A2 will have an initial range of 60 miles to meet typical city operation needs. ArduPilot has had this for a while. What I think Baykar Technologies is claiming is that they are the first to do this with a COMBAT UAV. Here's my video of totally autonomous aerobatics with ArduPlane https://lnkd.in/gMpsJ6G7

The first autonomous barrel roll performed by an Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) marks a groundbreaking achievement in the history of aviation. This maneuver, traditionally executed by piloted aircraft, involves a 360-degree roll along the longitudinal axis while maintaining a consistent altitude and heading. For a UCAV to autonomously perform such a complex maneuver, it requires advanced algorithms for real-time flight control, precise sensor integration, and robust onboard computing capabilities. This milestone demonstrates significant advancements in autonomous flight technology, showcasing the UCAV's ability to execute sophisticated aerial maneuvers without human intervention. It paves the way for enhanced combat and reconnaissance capabilities. #UCAV #BayraktarTB2

#advanceairmobility - #evtol developers skating on thin ice and risking future lawsuits? While the Archer Midnight is one of the best looking eVTOL aircraft and as Bert Lear said "If it looks good, it will fly good", and the specs are realistic; the name Archer (a Piper Aircraft trademark and used for Piper's Archer trainer since 1974 - settled out of court), calling the midnight a flying car (roadable aircraft), unrealistic production forecasts (250 aircraft to be delivered in the first year, when Robinson Helicopter Company deliver under 300 per year, after 45 years in production) and promising type certification of the Midnight in 2025 (less than 2 years after first flight for a cleansheet aircraft, when the Bell Flight 525 fly by wire helicopter has yet to be type certified 9 years after first flight, not to mention the Leonardo AW609, 21 years after first flight), leaves one wondering not if, but when the next investor lawsuit(s) is coming?
Getting real with Archer Aviation on eVTOL certification

Successful 1st week of simulation at EUROCONTROL #EIH to support the safety assessment of triple simulatenous independent parallel runway operations at the Istanbul airport. The challenge raised by this simulation with a particular focus on non nominal cases evaluation was not easy. Great results thanks to an efficient cooperation between EUROCONTROL teams, dhmi team, providing controllers on our #ESCAPE simulator, connected to our #A320 cockpit simulator operated by Turkish Airlines pilots. Still 3 other weeks to expose a large number of ATCOs and Pilots and collect their feedback.

Aeroshark #ANA #LATAM ANA’s first 777 with emissions-reducing Aero shark film enters service. All Nippon Airways has applied the low-drag Aero Shark surface film on a single Boeing 777 freighter, becoming the second Asian operator to use the film on its aircraft. AeroSHARK, a joint development by Lufthansa Technik and BASF, is a functional surface film inspired by the drag-reducing structure of sharkskin. The film features ribs around 50 micrometers in size, called riblets. Closely guided by Lufthansa Technik. # Following, Five LATAM Airlines Group Boeing 777-300ERs will be coated with Lufthansa Technik’s Aero shark drag-reducing film – the first carrier in the Americas and the third in the world to use this technology in order to save fuel and reduce emissions. This is a remarkable article that’s well worth reading if you want to geek out on one of the most interesting areas of aviation. And to boot, there’s some in-depth info on how the Joby Aviation flight controls are derived from the F-35B. If you ever played Microsoft Flight Simulator, this one’s for you 🕹️ ✈️ ⚡️
The eVTOL industry often points to the F-35B as a model for how to train pilots in aircraft without dual flight controls. I wanted to understand: how exactly does F-35 training work? And what has made it successful? My quest took me to the Pax River F-35 Integrated Test Force and ultimately became an exploration of what it means to be a professional pilot or flight instructor in an era increasingly defined by automation. (Spoiler: it means quite a lot!) Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this massive undertaking, including but not limited to Michael Lippert, Michael Land, Peter Wilson MBE FRAeS, and Erik Etz. And thank you to my team at The Air Current, especially Jon Ostrower, who created the platform for this kind of reporting.
