Attila the Hun! A great leader? Having been recommended this as a great read, I did exactly that, ordered a copy and read it! 😬 This is another take away from my Top 💯 Library 📚 It is certainly an interesting book! 🤔 Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun by Wes Roberts PhD Diplomacy and Politics - When in a political war, a Hun must always keep an eye to the rear - The essence of Hunnish victory lies in the answers to the questions ‘Where’ ? and ‘When’? - Huns should engage only in wars they can win - Huns may enter war as a result of failed diplomacy; however, war may be necessary for diplomacy to begin - For Huns, conflict is a natural state - Huns only make enemies on purpose - Huns never take by force what can be gained by diplomacy - Chieftans should remember that hospitality, warmth and courtesy will captivate even the most oppressive foe - Cheiftans are often betrayed by those they most trusting #leadership

New Published Article alert ⚠️. In this article I explore a potential pathway to peace through negotiations that could end Russia’s war in Ukraine, by answering the question: How can past negotiation frameworks inform a pathway to peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict? Utilising a hybrid approach, the article draws on lessons from diplomatic histories and negotiation methodologies, including the Dayton Accords, and the Helsinki Final Act, alongside the Harvard Method of negotiation. By synthesising historical precedents with contemporary strategies, the framework aims to guide diplomatic negotiations towards a peaceful resolution. We do have to bring back attention to diplomatic negotiations. War is not the path, the path is peace.

It explores the relationship between #populist #leaders and #diplomats, challenging the idea that their interaction is purely antagonistic. Instead, it examines how diplomats navigate, adapt to, and sometimes reinforce populist rule. The article is available here: https://lnkd.in/efPEvBZH
