It was great to see the hospitality industry coming together at Machine Hall for the inaugural Good Food Symposium. Guests heard from Callan Boys Alessandro Pavoni Huss Rachin, Palisa Anderson Rebecca Fanning and Patrick Ryan-Parker sharing their ideas and expertise on how to juggle the complexities of the current economic situation, staffing, pricing, social media and communication. As a newcomer into hospitality (Machine Hall Cafe) there were so many takeaways (pardon the pun 😩): Value creation is more about experience than price with familiar and more personal service driving loyalty - no more 'good evening Madam' A strong team culture can keep highly transient staff engaged. Giving them a shared vision of the future provides them with an opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Staff are an extension of your brand so time invested in them is always time well spent. Google reviews are vital - so ask happy customers to post or only negatives prevail. Answer all negative reviews personally as this will enable brand messaging. Businesses need to be multi platform business, comms are crucial and EDM’s sitting in the shadow of socials are the key to drive immediate sales. Cheers! Nine #hospitality

One of the best restaurant experiences I ever had was about much more than just the food. We were celebrating a milestone birthday and decided to try a new farm-to-table restaurant. Every moment of the meal was an experience. Each dish was introduced with exhaustive detail - where the ingredients were sourced, how they were grown, how they were prepared, and even the names of the farmers (well, maybe not that last part...). The story behind each dish made the meal unforgettable. The most memorable part of the evening wasn’t the food itself, but the attention and care the server took while pouring my drink. It was a thick red ale, and as he slowly poured it into my cold glass, he shared the story of the brewery. The meticulous five-minute pour showed an incredible attention to detail that left a lasting impression. Your focus and attention to detail matter. Even if some of those details are invisible to your audience, they make a difference. How do you welcome attendees to your space? What happens if they have to wait for what's next? What can you do to make that singular moment better? How can you adapt your demo or meeting to include more stories to bring the benefits of working with you to life? What other areas can you focus on improving the attendee experience in your space? Improving every aspect of the experience, by even 1%, will result in a significant improvement across the entire experience. If you ever get the chance to visit Blue Hill in NYC, do it—you won't regret it. -------------------- Hi, I'm Jay Designing experiences for trade shows that drive ROI for our clients. #business #branding #sales #marketing #eventprofs

Today, As I was having a chat with a young manager of a restaurant on a lively beach street, our discussion as usual went in to the operational details and it came up - their hurdles weren't just day-to-day operations but more on the strategic side. 🚧 Some Insights which stood out: 1️⃣ Lost in the Waves with no clear direction: Staying true to your brand vibe is key. Without a clear compass, it's easy to drown in the sea of trying to be everyone's favorite. 2️⃣ Quality over Quantity: More isn't always merrier. In the food world, Showcasing your strengths and elevating guest experiences usually steals the show. 3️⃣ Menu Mix Magic: A killer menu strategy isn't just a bonus; it's a must-have. It can boost sales, slash waste, and pump up profits. 4️⃣ Craving Simplicity: Mostly, less is more. Dishing up "everything under the sun" can blur your brand's charm and confuse your fans and some owners happy :( thats an irony tho 5️⃣ Technology to win: Thinking technology is just good to have to embracing technology as your trusted side kick who enables to deliver tasks faster and consistently by which the team can focus on creating exceptional guest experiences If you find your spot is sailing in a similar boat, let's catchup for a no frill chat and chart a course back to what makes your brand sparkle. 📈 #Marktx #Hospitalityguys #SimplifyF&B #TechnologyToSucceed #SimpleWins #Brewvend

Insightful day at the Trade Drinks Expo in London, here's what we took away... One of the standout sessions was the talk, "Gearing Up for Growth," featuring Thom Elliot (co-founder of Pizza Pilgrims) Robert Machin and Michelle Moreno. The conversation touched on some critical themes for anyone in the hospitality and drinks industry striving for growth. These were our key takeaways: Hospitality is a human-first industry: Despite advancements in AI and technology, hospitality remains a people-centric industry. Prioritising genuine, in-person experiences and hiring good staff are vital for customer satisfaction and loyalty. Simplicity in messaging: "If you're explaining, you're losing" really resonated. It's vital to keep messaging, branding and communication simple for your consumers to understand the concept and what you are about. Growth vs. Quality: Expanding a business doesn't necessarily guarantee higher revenue. It's vital to have the right processes in place; otherwise, more venues can lead to more losses. We were truly inspired by Thom Elliot's story of how Pizza Pilgrims grew from a single pop-up truck to an impressive 25 locations. The secret to their success? Focusing their time and energy on becoming better, not just bigger. #businessgrowth #tradeanddrinksexpo #scalingup

Another successful SpotOn Brand Ambassador Assembly is in the books! #spotonbrandambassadors At our September meeting, we took a step back and asked, “Why SpotOn?” Our Ambassadors shared stories of their first encounters with our brand and described their experience throughout the sales process—both before and after signing. These stories ranged from cold calls to referrals and even meeting us at the National Restaurant Association Show . Despite the variety of experiences, there was one consistent theme when it came to interactions with salespeople: No matter who approached them—a linen company, beer distributor, or a #restauranttech salesperson—one question always stood out: Will YOU and your product help GROW my business? Key takeaway: Buyers want a relationship with their salesperson that’s built on trust and results. They’re buying YOU as much as the product. And it doesn’t end at the sale—you need to follow through with excellent service post-installation or consumption. If a product doesn’t contribute to business growth, why would they buy it? We've found the best restaurant owners are laser-focused on continuous improvement. They’re always asking: “What can your product do to increase revenue, reduce costs, or help my team execute better so that next year is stronger than the last?” These open conversations with our restaurant clients at SpotOn are invaluable. Their insights and feedback are the only way we can continue to improve. Special thanks to Kevin Bryla and Greg Svitenko for helping make this happen!

🚫 Controversial opinion: Profitability comes before Creativity I can't tell you how many times I've heard the most absurd costs on cocktails justified by creativity and needing to have ground breaking drinks. Creativity brings excitement to the table, but without profitability, even the most innovative menu can't sustain a business. Profitability ensures that a bar or restaurant can continue to operate, innovate, and provide exceptional experiences for its guests. It's the backbone that supports all our creative endeavors. When developing a menu, it's essential to strike a balance between creativity and profitability. This balance not only sustains the business but also allows us to continuously offer guests new and exciting offerings. #DrinkMenu #Profitability #BeverageConsulting
