Embracing the Spectrum of Emotions this Tuesday Hello LinkedIn community! As we navigate through this week, anticipating International Women's Day and Mother's Day in the UK, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the spectrum of emotions these celebrations may bring. For many, these days are a celebration of the incredible women who shape our lives – mothers, mentors, and role models. Today, let's shine a light on our hosts, Patsy and Lydia, who embody strength, resilience, and the spirit of these occasions. Patsy, the calm and considered force, continues to be the heart of our community, fostering gatherings filled with laughter and love. Lydia, the dynamo injecting a Gemini twist into the ordinary, inspires us all to thrive with her unique approach to life. However, let's also acknowledge that for some, International Women's Day and Mother's Day can resonate in a more complex and perhaps, a bittersweet way. It might bring a sense of loss, longing, or reflection. To those who find these days challenging, I want you to know your feelings are valid. Let's remember that celebrations can carry different meanings for each of us, and it's okay to navigate them at our own pace. So, here's to embracing the spectrum of emotions this Tuesday, supporting each other, and recognising the strength in vulnerability. Whether it's a joyous celebration or a moment of reflection, let's be there for one another. Spectrum Glassware started with the simple question: If we come together as a community to celebrate and impact Black women’s health, how far can we go in making a real difference? The idea: create a colored glassware line that celebrates the beauty and diversity of women of color, with a portion of every purchase to go to organizations making an impact when it comes to raising awareness and creating change around the health issues disproportionately impacting women of color. And now, just a couple of months after launching Spectrum Glassware, I’m happy to share something worth celebrating: we’ve contributed enough funds to cover the equivalent of two mammograms for uninsured women! We supported an organization we believe in: the Center for Black Women’s Wellness (CBWW). Based in ATL, they’re truly doing the work—helping more women get critical screenings, education, and guidance to pave the way for healthier lives. And we’re only getting started on our journey to push for health equality. I look forward to sharing more in the coming months around all the ways we are evolving these efforts. When you shop with Spectrum Glassware, you’re doing more than buying beautifully crafted glassware—you’re joining a community that’s committed to making a difference. Visit spectrumglass.shop to find the perfect gift for someone you love while giving back to a cause that matters. Oh, and here’s a little extra: sign up for our mailing list and get 25% off your first order. Together, we can create joy while driving meaningful change.

As we celebrate Women's History Month, it's crucial to acknowledge the collective power and resilience of women, particularly in the fields of mental health and substance abuse recovery. Women have been at the forefront of advocating for better care, breaking down stigmas, and fostering communities of support and healing. This month is a reminder of how far we've come thanks to the tireless efforts of women leaders, and how much further we can go by working together. In the professional sphere, recognizing and amplifying the contributions of women is essential for creating more inclusive and supportive workplaces. This Women's History Month, let's commit to elevating women's voices, addressing gender-specific challenges in mental health and recovery, and creating environments where women feel valued, heard, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Let's use this opportunity to reflect on the strength that comes from unity and collaboration. By supporting each other, sharing our stories, and advocating for equity, we can overcome obstacles and build a brighter future for all women, especially those navigating the journey of mental health and substance abuse recovery. #WomensHistoryMonth #Empowerment #MentalHealthAwareness #UnityInStrength 🌷💼

Singular labels have been put on women for generations. In fact, 94% of women have had labels imposed on them by others, and only 16% feel the labels given to them by others align with how they would define their true selves. Cultural expert and New York Times-bestselling author Amanda Montell will discuss how language has evolved over time and how women can flip the script to celebrate their individuality. Following the conversation, participants will engage in small group discussions with Global Ambassadors Angela Fullmer and Juanita Sepulveda about how these limiting labels continue to affect women today and what they can do to reclaim their identity. Join us as we explore how to take back the labels used against us. This is a Dress for Success Worldwide Offering in partnership with TJ MAXX. These virtual workshops fill up fast, and registration is required to reserve your space. You can register through the Dress for Success Online Community at: https://lnkd.in/gyeavhsB Or, via ZOOM: https://lnkd.in/gjvqv2Fp

"Growing up, I always wanted to become a model,” says Jaleesa Graham. “[But] I was always discouraged because I never saw any models on the runway who looked like me. I thought I could not be a model because I didn’t ‘look’ like a model.” This is the reality for many Black and Brown women with disabilities—society’s narrow definitions of beauty, strength, and success have too often excluded them. From the media to fashion, arts, and entertainment, representation matters more than ever. Yet, women with disabilities, especially women of color, remain glaringly absent from many of these spaces. Jaleesa Graham, a trailblazer in the fashion industry, is proving that we belong. “I didn’t come to play the game. I came to change it.” Her journey from being told she couldn’t be a model because of her disability to becoming an icon in the fashion world is nothing short of inspiring. She’s not just breaking barriers—she’s redefining them. It's time to challenge the norms, push for authentic representation, and ensure that Black and Brown women with disabilities are seen, heard, and celebrated in all sectors. They deserve to take up space in every narrative. Join us in supporting and amplifying the voices of these incredible women who are changing the game. Let’s make sure that the media, fashion, and arts reflect the true diversity and strength of our communities.
