Director, Governance, Funding and Public Policy Development at European University Association
It was a great pleasure to contribute to the CESAER Task Force meeting, sharing insights from the European University Association work on European University Alliances. The discussions reaffirmed that these complex multinational partnerships continue to face several challenges we identified in our research on governance models of the EUIs. Efficient governance—both in terms of structures and processes—and strategic leadership remain critical to unlocking their full potential. These elements will be central to the upcoming EUA Leadership Development Programme for University Leaders, which we are excited to launch in 2025. Looking forward to continuing these important exchanges and advancing solutions together.
I had the pleasure of organising the CESAER Task Force meeting last week (28-29 November), generously hosted by Polito Hub Brussels. ❖ We were delighted to welcome Tine Delva (Deputy Head of Unit, Higher Education), Kinga Szuly, and Hugo Pinto de Abreu from the European Commission for vibrant discussions on the European Degree and the STEM Education Strategic Plan. ❖ Thomas Estermann (European University Association) and Magdalena Sikorska, Secretary General of EUNICE European University, enriched our discussions on governance models for Alliances. ❖ On Friday, the Task Force focused on engaging discussions about industrial PhDs. A big thank you to Roberto Zanino and Justyna Szostak, the co-chairs of our Task Force, and to all the participants for making this event a success!
