Should The Peatland Code be included in the UK's Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)? 🤔 We certainly think so! The UK ETS places a cap on the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions a company can release. Every unit of emissions up to this maximum is part of a tradeable allowance, creating a carbon market with a carbon price signal to incentivise decarbonisation. Currently, purchasing carbon credits verified through the peatland code is done voluntarily. However, many in the sector - including us! - believe admitting Peatland Code verified carbon credits into the UK ETS would improve the investment case in peatland restoration and help the UK reach its net-zero ambitions. As a true emission abatement, with high permanence and a low risk profile, Peatland Carbon Units represent a fantastic opportunity for the UK ETS to increase its impact on the UK's GHG Inventory. Without the compulsory force of the ETS, the incentive to invest in peatland restoration – an effective form of carbon sequestration – is weakened, leaving this incredible resource for climate change untapped. With a consultation on inclusions within the UK ETS ongoing (closing 15th August - https://buff.ly/4deZMi6), here's hoping the Government and Department for Energy Security and Net Zero hears our calls for the Peatland Code to be included! #ClimateCrisis #PeatlandRestoration #ScottishPeatland #ClimateAction #CarbonEmissions #GenerationRestoration

https://lnkd.in/eswKGfVy The technology and initiative to monitor measure the ghg. then the global mayors decided to commit to keeping these inventories. Then they decided that the CONSUMPTION BASED MODEL (arup LEEDS C40) that every consumption was proof of a Green House Gas emission that needed reduction. So then the idea of reduction based on a carbon leash and passport was born. Then the Arup Leeds report set out the Consumption within c40 cities that would be allowed by 2030. listed as Necessary Changes. The individual in the c40 city is allowed perfect Diversity Equity and Inclusion DIE equity down to the calorie. the restrictions are enforced through financial and regulatory means (think strong mayors act, climate plans with teeth) and Financial (ie CBDC) . So much evolution. so then the technology to measure and monitor ironically requires 25% of the grid fully utilized. is that not a pisser! but you look up the Arup Leeds c40 report yourself. it is TOTALITARIAN. IT IS A GULAG. the shadow government is the stuff you don't know about or hear about. but will so materially affect every aspect of our living, our communities, our businesses, our finances. We didn't consent. It is rolling out. You look for yourself. c40.org backslash our cities. or the globalcovenantofmayors.org backslash our cities. the smart city infrastructure fund funds it. look it up. metropolis. it is the forced diet that seems so interesting. such a departure from the things we now fight about. such a departure from ideology. really do you think ideology is here because the minority is used to ruling the majority. it is thus to be maddening or distracting or demoralizing while this nails go into coffins. Those being funded into green alarmism are vested into it and therefore compromised and not likely to be of any assistance. then there are the true trolls. then there are the dog leaders owning the tech the silencing and the nonreporting media.

The European Commission recommends a 90% net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. We are calling for a swift agreement on this target and clear measures to ensure a just transition, focusing on people and nature. More clarity is needed, as well as new tools, measures and financing to implement locally a climate-neutral and just transition. 🇬🇧 UK governments – in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – have fallen short of their tree-planting targets since 2020, Carbon Brief analysis shows. 🌲 The governments have failed to plant an area of forest nearly equivalent to the size of Birmingham. 📊 The most recent dataset, released on 20 June, shows that only 20,660 hectares of new woodlands were planted in 2023-24. While this is a significant jump from the previous three years, it is still far short of the 30,000 hectares target for 2025, as shown in the second chart. By 2050, the unplanted trees would have removed some 8.5m tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere – roughly 2% of the UK’s annual emissions in 2023. Read more on the UK's tree-planting targets from Josh Gabbatiss and Dr Verner Viisainen here ⬇️ https://buff.ly/4eLqG1V #TreePlanting #UKpolicy #Emissions #Sustainability
