🫁 #LungCancerAwarenessMonth 🎗️ 📈 Every year, it is estimated that about 2.4M people are diagnosed with #lungcancer across the world. Despite progress in the field of research, medicines, #diagnostics and #healthcare, lung cancer remains a leading cause of death, with 1.8M deaths in 2020. Raising awareness and supporting those impacted by this disease is therefore so important this month. 🩻 🧬 Non-small cell lung cancer, #NSCLC, accounts for about 85% of all lung cancers, but not all NSCLC cases are the same. #Genomicprofiling using cutting edge technologies can further define the complexity of this disease, and is critical for the uptake of #precisiononcology. Detection of #clincallyactionable #biomarkers is a game changer in the growing area of #personalisedmedicines. 💊 💡#Liquidbiopies in #cancerresearch are minimally invasive and represent a promising step forward. Allowing for detection and monitoring of circulating tumour DNA (#ctDNA) through advancements in diagnostics, it has the potential for improved clinical outcomes, especially if there is a delay due to limited or unavailable tissue biopsies. 🩸 🙏🏼 As we recognize #LCAM through November, emphasizing the need for #equitableaccess to these advancements is critical, so that we strive for a future where no one is left behind in the fight against lung cancer 🌏 #moleculartesting #targetedtherapies #lungcancerawareness

As we observe the Lung Cancer Awareness Month, it's vital to recognise the essential role our lungs play in sustaining life, as they enable us to breathe and provide oxygen to our bodies. With the average person able to hold their breath for only 30 to 90 seconds, the importance of healthy lungs becomes clear. Poor lung health can severely impact daily life, making early detection of lung cancer through regular screening crucial, especially since this common cancer often goes undetected until advanced stages. By raising awareness and encouraging screenings, particularly for those at higher risk, we can take proactive steps to protect our lungs and ensure a healthier living. Remember, healthy lungs are the foundation of a healthy life. #lungcancerawareness #RewritingCancer
Advancements in care and personalized treatments have transformed patient outcomes for lung cancer, enabling more people to potentially live longer, healthier lives (1). However, in emerging markets, lung cancer deaths remain to be high often due to late diagnosis and limited access to quality care (2). This #LungCancerAwareness month, Elden’s story motivates us to persist in our efforts to make early screening, diagnosis, and quality of lung cancer care available to everyone. We aim to collaborate with governments and the private sector to implement resource-stratified solutions in emerging markets. These actions are crucial for saving lives with hope to eliminate lung cancer as leading cause of cancer death. #LungCancerAwareness #AstraZeneca (1) https://lnkd.in/gzsmTbYh accessed October 2024 (2) Nwagbara UI, et al.
