Together we can change the approach to pancreatic cancer! The role of multidisciplinary collaboration and centralized care is crucial in improving pancreatic cancer patient outcomes. A multistakeholder approach involving the Lombardy Welfare Directorate, clinicians and a patient association, proposed a 𝐡𝐮𝐛-𝐚𝐧𝐝-𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 and a 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 to pancreatic cancer. This article outlines the process and criteria set forth for 𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, aiming to provide a structured framework for enhancing pancreatic cancer care. The Lombardy model offers a structured framework for enhancing pancreatic cancer care, with potential applicability to other regions and countries seeking to improve their cancer care infrastructure. 👉https://lnkd.in/egXnPAH9 Thanks to Gianpaolo Balzano, Michele Reni, Maria Di Bartolomeo, Marta Scorsetti, Augusto Caraceni, Piero Rivizzigno, Alessandro Amorosi, Alessandro Scardoni, Mohammad Abu Hilal, Giovanni Ferrari, Roberto Labianca, Massimo Venturini, Claudio Doglioni, Luca Riva, Riccardo Caccialanza. Part 2️⃣ of the Series: Insights from BEACON 🔎👀: Understanding Cancer Care Disparities in Central and Eastern Europe: A Patient-Centered Perspective BEACON's publication, "Patients’ Perspectives on Cancer Care Disparities in Central and Eastern European Countries," delves into the unique challenges faced by cancer patients in Slovakia and Croatia. Despite advancements in oncological medicine, disparities in access to comprehensive cancer care persist, particularly in these regions. Through focus group discussions, patients revealed significant barriers such as misinformation, healthcare system inefficiencies, and socio-economic impacts. This study emphasizes the urgent need for targeted interventions to reduce disparities and promote inclusive healthcare across Europe. By amplifying patients' voices, BEACON aims to inform policy changes and resource allocation strategies that can improve cancer care outcomes. 🔗 Explore the publication: https://lnkd.in/dZjx6rDT Veronica Coppini Maria Vittoria Ferrari Margherita Dahò Iva Kirac Ira Renko Dario Monzani Roberto Grasso Gabriella Pravettoni #CancerCare #HealthcareDisparities #PatientVoices #EUHealth #BEACONProject

🚨 New Publication Alert! 🚨 Excited to share the latest research from Dr Huseyin Naci and colleagues published in The Lancet Regional Health – Europe: “Efficacy and Safety of Interim Oncology Treatments Introduced for Solid Tumors during the COVID-19 Pandemic in England." 📄 Key Highlights: • We evaluated 31 interim oncology treatments across 36 cancer indications that were introduced to mitigate risks during the pandemic. • While only 39% of these therapies showed superior efficacy compared to standard treatments, over 50% had improved safety profiles, making them crucial in protecting patients with reduced immune function. • Our findings highlight the importance of adaptability in healthcare, providing insights on how these interim treatments have evolved post-pandemic. This research underscores the value of evidence-based policies during healthcare crises, and we hope it informs future strategies for global cancer care. 🔗 Read the full article https://lnkd.in/esvcvwCr #CancerResearch #Oncology #COVID19 #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalResearch #CancerCare
