In Part 1 of Season 11, Episode 56, I kick things off with one of the great Instructors of this or any other time, Tom Patri. This marks Tom's 107th time joining the show plus it's the 9th anniversary of his first visit. This time Tom and I dive into the proposed changes for the 2025 PGA Tour season, which unfortunately don’t seem focused on growing the game at the professional level. We discuss the trickle-down effect these changes could have on top instructors like Tom and on others around the game who are dedicated to helping aspirational players. These changes risk shrinking the game at the top, giving a larger piece of the pie to fewer players. As usual, it seems to come down to more money for fewer people. Shakespearean Space Jesus alert! Opening monologue cinematic work-in-progress using Unreal Engine and Maya. The monologue is from my podcast, The Madness of Chartrulean. The Unreal Engine journey has been a long one. Every corner turned opens up a set of learnings that can lead to new things that can go wrong in disastrous ways. Exploding shirts, disappearing moustaches, distorted body rigs, and all manner of terrible things. This is the first successful low quality render with sound added and performance mocap. A few more kinks to work out with the cloth simulation and retargeting, and a ways to go with rendering and post processing.
