Yesterday marked the start of the Global Leaders Forum to celebrate UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD)'s 60th Anniversary 🎈 UNCTAD was created with the goal of ensuring that globalisation left no one behind. From 12-14 June, global leaders will discuss the theme, “Charting a new development course in a changing world.” This is a call to action for us to reimagine development in the age of polyglobalisation. To adapt to changing times, we need to build a future that is resilient, equitable and sustainable. The forum opened with a keynote from António Guterres, Secretary-General, and Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General (UNCTAD), followed by a leaders discussion. Over the next days, various heads of state, institutional leaders, and top economists will meet in person to explore new, creative solutions for sustainable development, and to discuss how UNCTAD can continue to make a significant impact. 🌐Follow live: https://lnkd.in/eBTTEpHj #UNCTAD60 #SustainableDevelopment #GlobalLeadersForum

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals remain a major challenge as progress is either stagnant or significantly slow. The Sustainable Development Report 2024, produced by United Nations (United Nations Association of South Africa) indicates that major challenges remain and persist when it comes to SDG 2, #ZeroHunger (pictured). Scores either remain stagnant or are not increasing at the required pace. It is for this reason that we must ensure that we collaborate as key and relevant stakeholders, across public, civil and private sectors to ensure that we achieve our targets. Thinkerneur, through its #ImpactSeries platform encourages corporates to play a more deliberate role. We call on and celebrate impact leaders who are determined to to drive for and achieve #SustainableImpact, which we define as; "Achieving your bottom line as well as leave people, communities, environment and broader society better than you found them". #BrandForGood #ForceForGood

What you should know about the road to 2100. The road to the SDGs is already halfway, regardless there is still a lot of actions that are needed to help solve various global challenges that keep surfacing daily. More specifically, there is an urgency in the need for young people to be involved in making the decisions that will facilitate global prosperity for the future generations. I know you may be asking “after 2030 what’s next? “ We are on the road to 2100. Envisioning and working on frameworks that will potentially shape the world and enable the future generations to have a roadmap which will guide them after 2030, and of course work in their favor. One major objective of Our Future Agenda is prioritizing the voices of young people, and creating an inclusive environment that bring us closer to the world leaders, there by giving us an opportunity for our voices to be heard, and contributing to influencing policies that will shape our future. Here is why you should join this meeting; * Share your opinions with global leaders on what you envisage the world to look like in the near future * Get an opportunity to contribute to shaping frameworks for the road to 2100 * Network with young changemakers from across the world. Register here and see you on Friday🫶🏽: https://lnkd.in/d7FWPAhZ

Building leaders does not come without discomfort; from both sides. The old and the wise must transfer their knowhow; the young and the, dare say, ignorant, must become wise at the speed of light. Conditions hard to match in the more blurred than ever ai and work-life era!! But if those who hold the knowledge can inspire the young gen to invest into a collective mission, this young workforce will give all they have! We have defined their future, and their future seems weird. Their own time is charged high, their health comes first, their emotional intelligence is a choice and not a trait and they'd rather work with employers who are the same with them. However, we owe them the chance to prove they can succeed. We have to allow them to implement their authenticity, their talents, their skill building, their thirst for knowledge and embrace their deeper need to change this world for the better. (who knows why gen Z has this need more than any other gen). We owe them our trust. Cause the young gen is not just the future, this young gen is our future...! #business #technology #ai #embracingchange #genZ #2030sdgs #betterworld #sustainablefuture #community

Last week, I spent an exciting morning during the World Economic Forum's Sustainable Development Impact Meetings (SDIM), where we had the opportunity to engage with public and business leaders in a dynamic Cross-Industry Dialogue on Resilience! We explored actionable steps for public-private collaboration to build stronger, more sustainable economies, with a sharp focus on driving green growth. We are proud of how the Resilience Consortium is driving these important conversations to catalyze public and private action across key resilience drivers for sustainable and inclusive growth. Check out our latest publication from earlier this year Building a Resilient Tomorrow: Concrete Actions for Global Leaders (https://lnkd.in/gKhdh_wg ) Looking forward to pushing this conversation forward in collaboration with the World Economic Forum #SDIM24 #Resilience #GreenGrowth #Sustainability #McKinseySustainability

The Summit of the Future: Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow was first proposed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his Our Common Agenda report in September 2021. The report was his response to a call from Member States for ideas on how better to respond to current and future challenges. It will be held in September 2024 and is billed by Guterres as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity to reinvigorate global action, recommit to fundamental principles, and further develop the frameworks of multilateralism so they are fit for the future”. #sustainability #leadership
