To make sure that kiddos know the opportunities ahead of them, Workforce Development Council staff member Elaine Zabriskie wrote and illustrated a book about apprenticeship just for Idaho's students. Non-traditional Apprenticeship in Early Childhood Education: Lessons Learned Description This presentation will explore the journey of the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program (ECAP) at Skyline College. Multi-year planning and implementation of an apprenticeship program in an area of critical workforce need. The program focuses on reduced time to completion/transfer, equitable access, providing living wage employment and coursework leading to both an Associate’s Degree and Master Teacher Child Development Permit in early childhood education. We will discuss the planning process, funding (including CAI grant) and the complexities of working through multiple bureaucracies to provide support for a marginalized student population to be successful in the workforce.
