Making your voice known in the face of a medical error may not come out naturally, even though the ethics of medical care requires so. Speaking-up is a must, particularly when a patient's safety is at risk, and such inaction undermines the very unique healing mission of healthcare facilities. Understanding the issues that strengthen and weaken healthcare workers' speaking-up behaviour in the face of medical errors is crucial not only to avert its future reoccurrence but also to achieve Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (i.e., Health and Wellbeing). This recently published work in the Journal of Advanced Nursing is a must-read for all.

Managing International Patients Safely: The Indispensable Role of Communication and Engagement In today’s interconnected healthcare landscape, managing international patients requires more than clinical excellence—it demands a comprehensive approach that ensures their journey is safe, seamless, and culturally attuned. At the heart of this endeavor lies effective communication, a cornerstone of patient-centered care. However, having robust policies and procedures is only the beginning. Their consistent and deliberate application is what drives meaningful outcomes. Consider the following: 🔑 Discharge in the Patient’s Language: Providing discharge instructions in the patient’s preferred language is crucial. Beyond mere delivery, assessing their comprehension of critical post-care education may profoundly influence readmission rates. 🗓️ Communicating the Plan of Care: Clearly articulating care plans and upcoming visit schedules in a language the patient fully understands fosters transparency, builds trust, and enhances adherence. This is not merely about meeting standards; it is about delivering superior outcomes. While these measures may require additional time and effort, the payoff is significant: improved health outcomes, fewer readmissions, and increased bed availability and access for other patients in need. Communication is a clinical imperative. It not only enhances patient comprehension and experience but also drives measurable improvements in safety and quality of care. #Patientsafety #HealthcareLeadership #GlobalHealth #CommunicationInHealthcare #InternationalPatients #ImprovingOutcome

Why AACI Accreditation: A complete trusted Symbol of Quality in Healthcare? Study 2011 highlighted that accreditation is usually a voluntary program in which trained external peer reviewers evaluate a healthcare organization's compliance and compare it with pre-established performance standards. Trained External Peer Reviewers is high-point here, and that’s why AACI put a toughen surveyors selection process to invite high-caliber healthcare professional to train, pass exam, and certify the ‘Accreditation Lead Surveyor’ program which is accredited by International Society for Quality in Health Care External Evaluation Association (IEEA). This certification is not enough unless minimum 64 hours of surveyor’s observation is prerequisite. Even annual CME training is required to upkeep the surveyors’ credentials. Does accreditation impact on the quality of healthcare services? Studies showed that accreditation programs significantly improve clinical outcomes and the quality of care of these clinical conditions and showed a significant positive impact of subspecialty accreditation programs in improving clinical outcomes in different subspecialties, including sleep medicine, chest pain management and trauma management. Studies suggested that accreditation programs of health organizations and certifications of subspecialties should be encouraged and supported to improve the quality of healthcare services. One of the most important barriers to the implementation of accreditation programs is the skepticism of healthcare professionals in general and physicians in particular about the positive impact of accreditation programs on the quality of healthcare services (doi: 10.4103/0256-4947.83204) Thereby, need to educate healthcare professionals about the potential benefits of accreditation to resolve any skeptical attitude of healthcare professionals towards accreditation. Accreditation programs should be supported as a change management tool to improve the quality of healthcare services. When it comes to AACI Gold Accreditation for healthcare organizations, and or Platinum Certification for clinical programs and or @TRUST Certification for medical content or medical app, it becomes a trusted symbol of quality in healthcare organizations by ‘Ruling Risks, Saving Lives’. https://lnkd.in/gpUyU5EZ In Brief, We Know Healthcare! #Accreditation #Trust #Safety #Quality #Gold #Platinum #healthcare #Hospitals #Clinic #AACI #AACIblog
