Chemical Engineering Journal (CEJ) reposted this
Patience and hard work conquer all🌍. I’m thrilled to share a new achievement in my research journey at Kemijski inštitut - National Institute of Chemistry! Together with Blaž Likozar, we have published a comprehensive review article in the Chemical Engineering Journal (CEJ), titled: "State-of-the-art advancements in the thermocatalytic conversion of CO2 into ethanol and higher alcohols: recent progress in catalyst development and reaction mechanisms." 🔬 This article delves deep into one of the most pressing challenges in sustainable chemistry - efficiently converting CO2 into ethanol and higher alcohols (HA). Tackling the chemical inertness of CO2, the complexities of reaction mechanisms, and the challenges of C–C coupling has been no easy feat, but the strides in catalyst development offer promising solutions. 📖 Highlights of the review: ✅ Explored advancements in catalyst families for batch and continuous fixed-bed reactors, including modified Cu-, Co-, and Fe-based systems, as well as noble metals and their promoters/supports. ✅ Dissected the reaction mechanisms, covering CO-mediated, formate/methoxy-mediated, and C–C coupling pathways. ✅ Provided a forward-looking perspective on strategies to enhance selectivity and stability in CO2 hydrogenation to ethanol and HA. 💡 Whether you’re working on carbon capture and utilization, catalysis, or renewable energy, this review provides an extensive analysis of current progress and future directions in this transformative field. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dFkj3s_N I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to advancing solutions for a more sustainable future. #CO2Utilization #Catalysis #SustainableChemistry #RenewableEnergy #ResearchInnovation
