New research has discovered a family of RNA-guided DNA endonucleases - the IS607 TnpB protein family. These endonucleases show robust dsDNA interference activity in #bacteria and human #cells. The study demonstrated their #DNA cleavage activity and identified a 20-nt guide sequence that achieves the highest DNA cleavage activity for the ISFba1 TnpB enzyme. The study's findings open new opportunities for employing programmable endonucleases for #gene editing.
