Meet The Flyin' Lions! John, Graeme, David & Sam from CEMCOR Ltd are taking on a huge challenge to raise much needed funds for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland - a 6 day challenge to cycle 500 miles around Northern Ireland. The plan came together after John had a serious mountain biking accident where he fractured his back. Thankfully the Air Ambulance first response team were there to help. Currently, the guys have just completed day 2 reaching Enniskillen via Coleraine, Derry, Castlederg and Belleek after leaving Cookstown yesterday morning. Having already dealt with some horrendous weather conditions, hopefully the weather picks up for the rest of the week! We are incredibly proud of our colleague's achievement so far and look forward to sharing their progress throughout the week. For anyone who would like to donate and to help the team reach their target to support this fantastic charity, please follow this link: https://lnkd.in/eSgSk8QH

Good evening Pilots and Cabin Attendants, Did you know that there are local organizations that will take donations of packaged foods that are past the stamped “best by date, or expired on date” to give to local impoverished families? This is so they do not have to choose between eating and paying bills. In Rhode Island we have a non-profit called; Project Hand Up. They serve hundreds of customers per week. When you are provisioning your Jet, removing expired snacks from the storage locker keep these organizations in mind and donate to them instead of just throwing the food away. What non-profit will you be donating your expired snacks to? Comment below!

I'm in the final throws of finishing the new St Vincent's Resourcing website (watch out for my next post on this) which can get you in a very reflective mood, and part of the discussion internally recently was focussed on why, after all these years, we're still doing what we do. We'd been talking about an exercise we did a number of years ago when trying to learn more about our staff, everyone including leadership did a basic personality test and we shared the results. It did start out as a bit of fun, but it was really interesting, with some surprising results. One thing we did notice as a trend across the business was a particular category that stood out as most common - The Helper. As with all personality traits, being a helper is both a help and a hindrance, but we did have a bit of a collective realisation then that we were very much a business that likes to help. It was the reason (and still is) that I got out of bed in the morning, and was an ingrained part of our approach to how we worked with our candidates and clients. It was also at the centre of why we were so involved with charity work for so many years. We'd organised so many events in the aid of numerous charities close to our hearts but, for numerous reasons, not least our shift to a more remote working model, our efforts in this area have waned. We're doing what we can now to get that back on track, and, for the first time in a few years, we've got back involved! A few weeks ago we took to the Isle of Bute for a cycle in aid of 2 amazing charities (details below). This journey was ruff, but knowing it'll help provide care for dogs in need made it worth it. If you believe in wagging tails, slobbery kisses, and giving pups a new leash on life, throw us a bone by donating to our JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/gXuuVxXj Every contribution, no matter how small, will help us raise the woof! Let's show these pups that humans can be a dog's best friend too. #CharityCycle #PawsomeCause #WhosARescuedWho
Reflecting on such an amazing day with some of our St. Vincent’s family! This time last month we were gearing up for a busy day cycling around Bute for amazing two amazing Charities; Mental Health Innovations (the creators of Shout) and Second Chance Dog Rescue 🙌 We’re proud to be making a difference with the money raised so far. Thank you to all who have donated! Check out our donations page here: https://lnkd.in/eQv7bq4t Here’s what we got up to on the day 👇 #MentalHealthInnovations #Shout #HealthcareIT #Fundraising #Charity #SecondChanceDogRescue

This week is hashtag #SmallCharityWeek. It was recently calculated by UK Civil Society Almanac 2023 that in the past 4 years, UK small charity donations have dropped by £4.6 Billion at the same time as donations to large charities have increased by £4.5 billion. That tells us two things: 1. People are still generously supporting causes. 2. Small charities are struggling and many are even closing their doors or merging with others on the edge of closure. In all the years I've worked for charities I've never known a time like this. The reality of a global cost of living crisis and, of course, a national cost of living crisis hits the work of small charities on two fronts. The need for the work of small charities has increased with the economic challenges like those we have been in since the start of the pandemic. People who may have been potential supporters are having to cut personal and family budgets just to keep their own finances in balance. It is a huge challenge for those of us trying to raise funds for the great causes we believe in. Paper Boat is no exception. It is as challenging a landscape for us as it is for any charity of our small size but we will keep going because we believe in the infinite potential of the children we work with. So, here's the challenge. I'd love to add 10 new regular supporters to our donor list this small charities week. As little as £5 a month makes a real difference to the children we serve. If this is you, please click the link below and join us in inspiring & enabling children to change their world. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/eNcuT4ax Now, I am aware that you may not be able to donate, can I ask you to help us by sharing this post? Any interaction makes a big difference. Since joining Prosperity 24/7, I've come to realise that there's not much that brings us together like a good Love to Ride challenge. We managed to top our respective leaderboards in the recent May challenge, although Greener Kirkcaldy gave us an excellent run for our money. We got new people involved in the challenge, we saved an estimated 546lb CO2 through cycling instead of driving and as well as cheering on our usual stalwarts, I also discovered which colleagues will come through last thing on a Friday and undertake a round-the-island-cycle for the extra miles... Sure, winning is fun but what's really nice is to see the behaviour changes starting to take root in the segment of our company that aren't die-hard cyclists (and I include myself in that). Last September I noted that I'm a reluctant cyclist but I'm becoming less reluctant and more willing to do that commute by bicycle. I've also noticed our bike store becoming busier and less frequent cyclists populating the Love to Ride feed more often. That's no mean feat. As someone who deals with change while delivering projects, change isn't always easy to embed but I've always been a fan of gamification as motivation in the right settings. And one of those right settings will be Prosperity Day in September, when our colleagues and clients will compete for bragging rights but also for the much better reason of raising money for charity - this year, we're supporting Healing Waves UK and Jersey Hospice Care - two very deserving charities. So, if you want to do your part, why not sign up for or donate to the tenth Prosperity Day? https://lnkd.in/eFAaUGGf #Lovetoride #change #prosperityday #healingwaves #hospice #charity #cycling
It's #WorldBicycleDay! So what better day to tell you that the 10th edition of Prosperity Day is ready to launch! 🚀 So far we've raised £160,000 for charity and this year we want to raise £40,000 for Jersey Hospice Care and Healing Waves UK Our annual charity fundraising event sees corporate rivals go ‘head to head to head’ in a fast paced stationary cycling challenge. Using our brand new Wahoo KICKR bikes to complete a virtual 30 minute race using 3D Race technology, teams of three will compete against each other to gain race day points which are added to their all important fundraising total and will see who tops the podium. 🚴♂️ 🚴♀️ 🚴♂️ Team captains, get your team mates ready and sign up here https://lnkd.in/eCS2ijBA #GreatMindsAlways #ProsperityDay #Clients #Colleagues #Community #Charity #VentYourFury #CorporateRivalry
Prosperity Day is 10! Join us on Friday 06 September
