AND MAAAAAN so many artworks look like chores artists have to do today. Their work looks like they are in endless grind mode, trying to tick a hundred boxes to "fit the mold" and "follow the industry meta" rather than feeding their own imagination and what they like to nerd about. Keep this in mind: ✨Whatever emotions you have doing your work will transpire from it. If you don't enjoy doing your work, if it's done out of fear and desperation, people will feel it and hate your work. If you love and are having fun working on your pieces, it will be contagious and people will feel it. ✨And you want to know the secret? It is super easy to tick all the requirement boxes of the Industry while having a TON OF FUN drawing what you like to geek about the most. That's exactly what each and every of my mentees are doing: ➡️We spend two weeks figuring out their best individual strategy to perfectly match what the companies they are aiming at need. ➡️Then it's all about having fun while doing their portfolio ➡️And because they love their work, they work even harder on it and it feeds a virtuous circle None of my student work is the same or following trends, I could mix all their pictures and re-separate each of them apart to each student because everything they do is coherent with who they are and what they like. Some students have crazy background unrelated to art and talk about their stories, their native country cultures...etc They stand out so much that they get hired in a few months after their portfolio is done... With current roll out of competence based education training in TVET globally this gives institutions an opportunity to engage with the public at local,national and international level as they present various exhibits and some agains are expected; Educational Value: Exhibits provide a hands-on learning experience for students and visitors. They allow people to see, touch, and interact with objects, making the learning process more engaging and memorable. This is particularly effective for complex or abstract concepts that are difficult to understand through traditional methods like textbooks or lectures. Engagement and Interest: Exhibits capture the attention of visitors and make learning fun. By presenting information in a visually appealing and interactive manner, exhibits can spark curiosity and interest, encouraging visitors to explore and learn more. Communication and Storytelling: Exhibits are powerful tools for storytelling. They can convey complex narratives and messages in a way that is accessible and engaging to a broad audience. Through the use of visuals, audio, and interactive elements, exhibits can bring history, science, art, and culture to life. Promotion and Marketing: Trade shows and exhibitions are effective platforms for #TVETs to showcase their products and services. Cultural Exchange and Understanding: Exhibits can promote cultural exchange and understanding by showcasing diverse traditions, customs, and perspectives. They can foster cross-cultural dialogue, break down stereotypes, and promote tolerance and appreciation for different cultures. All in all, exhibitions are important because they enhance learning, engage and inspire visitors, preserve, communicate complex ideas, promote business and innovation, and foster cultural exchange. How My Photography and Fine Art Degree Shaped My Career Despite scepticism about higher education, an arts degree remains valuable. It goes beyond technical skills to enhance critical thinking, creativity, and cultural understanding, qualities essential in today’s world. University provides structure, mentorship, and networking, crucial for breaking into the creative industry and exploring your unique voice. My degree in Photography and Fine Art was pivotal in my successful career. It was not just about technical skills but also about developing a unique perspective, building a network, and learning to think critically and creatively. The connections, experiences, and guidance I received were instrumental in securing a role aligned with my passions. However, I understand the path to success in the arts isn't always through a degree. While education provides valuable skills and structure, it's not the only route to thriving in the industry. Some, like Celia Ellis, find that real-world experience, self-driven exploration, and non-traditional learning paths can lead to equally fulfilling and successful careers.
