🌶Hot take from Feng Zhu at IAMAG a few weeks ago: Most artworks done by aspiring artists today are painful to look at because they look like they are not having fun doing art. AND MAAAAAN so many artworks look like chores artists have to do today. Their work looks like they are in endless grind mode, trying to tick a hundred boxes to "fit the mold" and "follow the industry meta" rather than feeding their own imagination and what they like to nerd about. Keep this in mind: ✨Whatever emotions you have doing your work will transpire from it. If you don't enjoy doing your work, if it's done out of fear and desperation, people will feel it and hate your work. If you love and are having fun working on your pieces, it will be contagious and people will feel it. ✨And you want to know the secret? It is super easy to tick all the requirement boxes of the Industry while having a TON OF FUN drawing what you like to geek about the most. That's exactly what each and every of my mentees are doing: ➡️We spend two weeks figuring out their best individual strategy to perfectly match what the companies they are aiming at need. ➡️Then it's all about having fun while doing their portfolio ➡️And because they love their work, they work even harder on it and it feeds a virtuous circle None of my student work is the same or following trends, I could mix all their pictures and re-separate each of them apart to each student because everything they do is coherent with who they are and what they like. Some students have crazy background unrelated to art and talk about their stories, their native country cultures...etc They stand out so much that they get hired in a few months after their portfolio is done... Rather than having a portfolio just following trends and never showing who they really are ✨Do not ever chase money and career, chase what you want to do You want to learn how to do the same as my students and get a job in months rather than years? 👉 Then watch this video (it's 100% free) and then apply to my mentorship if you are close or above junior level https://lnkd.in/d27ebEEb PS : Next class starts on May 11th and there are 3 spots left.

On Personal Projects: Recently, a friend dubbed me "the queen of opportunities," and I must admit—it gave my ego a little boost! But more importantly, it validated my habit of working on personal projects. Many art mentors have shared a common thread in their journey: they didn’t wait for opportunities to come knocking; they created them through personal projects with tangible goals. Whether it's regularly posting motion graphics with a specific aesthetic, sharing themed recipes, or writing a poem a day, these creative disciplines push artists to grow, find their style, and challenge their limits. These projects transform you as an artist and give you something concrete to showcase in your portfolio. In October 2019, I had the chance to participate in Inktober—a tradition where artists create a drawing every day in October. Wanting to merge my personal interests, I themed each drawing around a book I was deeply engaged with at the time: Decolonizing Methodologies: Research and Indigenous Peoples by Linda Tuhiwai Smith. The book is rich in its exploration of decolonizing research practices, touching on history, philosophy, and the politics of knowledge creation. After four years of cramming medical science into my brain, diving into this was a shift. But translating complex concepts from the book into visual images made the material more accessible and memorable. By the end of the month, I not only had a deeper understanding of decolonizing epistemology—reframing how we study and understand the world—but I had also sharpened my visual communication skills. This project even led to new opportunities, like creating and teaching DEI/IDEA curriculums, as it showcased my ability to translate complex ideas into digestible, visual content. Personal projects aren’t just about self-expression; they’re about transformation and creating your own opportunities. 💡✨ #PersonalProjects #Inktober2019 #DecolonizingMethodologies #CreativeGrowth #VisualStorytelling #DEICurriculum #SelfDirectedLearning #ArtAsActivism #OpportunityQueen #CreativeJourney #ArtistsOfLinkedIn #MultidisciplinaryArtist #ArtistPortfolio #CreateOpportunities

🌟 What an Unforgettable Experience at Studyathon with Cover Craze! 🌟 Just wrapped up my firstever Studyathon, organized by the amazing team at Cover Crease, and it was such a rollercoaster of learning and excitement! 🚀 Held at PESU 52 with nearly 40 teams competing, we were challenged to create and publish a magazine from scratch.📖💼 Round 1 kicked off with topic selection through chits. We landed on “Visual Branding in Educational Institutions and the Role of Students”. 🎨🏫 My team and I dove into research, exploring how visual branding leaves lasting impressions, builds emotional connections, and helps institutions stand out. 💡💥 Dividing tasks, each teammate tackled a section, ensuring our content was both AI and plagiarismfree. 👩💻📚 Round 2 was where the creativity flowed! 💻✨ Using Canva, we designed the magazine with structured content and a captivating story about a student discovering the power of visual branding. 📸 We brought out strategies like digital presence, audiencecentric visuals, and messaging that resonated with students, parents, and alumni alike. 👨🎓👩🎓 Finally, Round 3 the marketing showdown! 💥 Presenting our magazine to the judges (our "publishers") was exhilarating, and our hard work paid off when we secured second place! 🏆🎉 This immersive experience taught me the power of teamwork, creativity, and the importance of strong leadership skills. I can’t wait to dive back in and aim for first place next time! 🙌💪 #Studyathon #VisualBranding #Teamwork #GrowthJourney #CoverCraze#

Grades vs. Growth: The Hard Lesson I Learned in School When I was in 10th grade, I made a big decision — to give up my art, my passion for painting, to focus entirely on studies. I was so caught up in the drive to get high marks and be the "best student" that I left my creative side behind. Aur 12th tak, maine kabhi apne art ko serious tareeke se pursue bhi nahi kiya. Of course, I achieved my goal — I got great grades, accolades, and the satisfaction of doing well academically. And yes, I believe school days mein padhai par focus karna zaroori hai. But now that I look back, there’s a part of me that wonders, "Was giving up art the right choice?" Art was always my escape — something I turned to whenever I felt overwhelmed or needed a break. But kya pata, agar maine tab se hi art ko thoda time diya hota, toh aaj aur zyada creatively grow ho paata. Maybe, instead of completely shutting it off, I could have learned how to balance both. But it is what it is. It’s never too late, and the best part is — ab mujhe pata hai ki I don’t have to choose one over the other. Now, I’m finding ways to bring art back into my life, not just as a hobby, but as something I truly want to improve and grow in. To anyone in a similar situation: Don’t let go of the things you love. Achieving good grades or meeting career goals is important, but so is nurturing your passion. You don’t have to choose — balance is tough, but it’s possible. It’s okay if you’re a little late; what matters is that you start. "Ending this post with a glimpse of my school days — my wall filled with the artwork I created back then. It was my little art gallery, a constant reminder of the passion I’d put on hold. Sometimes it’s nice to look back and appreciate those pieces." #PassionAndPurpose #BalancingAct #NeverTooLate #SchoolDays

There are always limits, they don't go away, they groom a determined mind. Having being in the tech industry for sometime has been an interesting adventure and the best part has been leaping over challenges and keeping on track. Apart from the general experience of creative blocks, working in the graphic design field and balancing my student life has been one of my greatest challenges; but I have learned a lot from it. At first, it was hard to manage both. Deadlines for school and design projects often clashed, and I felt overwhelmed. But I had to learn basic tips that have kept me going. I had to acquire the skills of time management and setting a strict schedule that kept me focused on my prioritized task, whether designing or my studies at a time. Also, I have engaged my time in learning design softwares that helps in increasing my work productivity. Whenever I pick a book or take a break; breakdowns has been kept at bay with this. Overcoming this each day has proved to be an awesome experience, for me that has shaped my mindset and has helped me to succeed in both areas.💫 Have you also faced similar challenges with mine? How have you been able to excel each time? I would love to learn from you in the comments.😌 📸Creative Project #wtmnsukka #wtmbrandingchallenge #Day5 #Overcomingchallenges

We often think How to increase our #skills. No doubly edtech platforms like #coursera & #udemy are in right now and provide an extra edge to learning new skills from leading institutions and faculties across the world , it's a rediculous irony we doubt our own experiences. I started writing #adcopies after years of experience in #writing. I started #storyboarding while I was making #content for my own company. I started loving #hosting as I blurted out in enthusiasm , Hello ! This is Renu and welcome to @designsinsiders ! . I started #teaching after years of experience in manufacturing and #exports. I #mentored students and women of all ages after gaining confidence in teaching students just passing out from schools. I started #designing websites and catalogues after I did a hundred of #graphicdesign works and started learning #visualcommunication as I started to enjoy doing it. Down the line when I was a fresher , I knew ..probably NONE of these ! Down the line , probably I was just a #leatherdesigner. Down the line probably, I was just what I studied as a #degree. Indeed you upgrade your #skills along the way . You learn to embrace what you don't know and chose to go on a path that will upgrade your knowledge and technicalities to do so. You learn that you don't know everything and you won't know everything . But chosing what you like and doing it again and again will build your skill muscle . Learn as you go. #Grow as you go.

If you're solely reliant on academic prowess (core skills), you're missing out on vital opportunities. ❌ Let's draw a comparison with the world of creativity and innovation. 🎨 Can mastering one aspect of artistry alone make you a complete artist? Imagine being a master painter but lacking the ability to express your ideas or network effectively. 😅 Similar dilemmas arise when one focuses solely on academics. And neglects fundamental skills like communication, networking, and public speaking. ➡️ I understand that during our school years, the emphasis is often on academic achievements, with little guidance on holistic skill development. I've been there myself. However, continuing this trend into college or beyond is a mistake, my friends. Don't take pride in academic excellence and a perfect 10 GPA. I've witnessed many individuals (with stellar academic records) struggle in their careers and feel trapped in monotonous routines, leading to frustration and depression. So, after reading this post, take action: 👇 1. Invest in refining your soft skills. 2. Engage with communities of like-minded individuals to network and learn. 3. Participate in competitions and presentations to enhance your self-expression. You'll experience a monumental transformation. 🔥 👉 Who else agrees that academic excellence alone isn't the key to growth? Having multiple options but No confidence! A girl completed her graduation now she has multiple options open, She appeared in multiple entrances for further studies but didn't clear! She didn't lose the hope but rather than saying she is not okay... She said I am confused!!! She was confused because she knows thoda thoda sb kuch! But will this gonna help her? She knows little editing, Little graphic designing, Has some speaking skill, Knows photography, Did some work in fashion designing also, Work in NGOs also! She explored a lot but didn't finalize what her cup of tea was! She has multiple interests.. Now she wants to do this, and blah blah! And she also wants to do business also! Where I guess every youth once in their life thinks nowadays about this! She has multiple options but she doesn't have confidence which will be a good option for her! Rather than focusing on one tool she is still saying I will do this and in my free time I will also do this and I will learn both! She can't sit in 2 boats at one time:) She is confused, but the only solution is:) -Sit -Write -Plan(you already tried what is wrong is what is right for you, Where do you have your interest) - So now you know what you want -And What you have - What skills do you need to acquire - So stop convince yourself by watching others - And Last Where you see yourself after 5 years That's all! This is a story of one of my friends where she is lacking behind in making choices! Making choices is difficult but choosing the best out of the waste is what we all are learning from primary school! So , we all can do this also, Choose that is best for us! P.S - I've always been the perfect student, but I never explored such beautiful opportunities in life. This photo is one of those moments when I was awarded the All-Rounder Student prize! Follow Charu Sharma for more💐

"Get a formal education or stay in the grind to continue to pursue my passions?" It's a question that bumps around in so many of our minds at different times of our lives. And for many, unfortunately, a decision that's heavily influenced by finances. Myself included. For so many there's a constant pressure to perform, create, participate and be constantly "plugged in", giving very little time for self reflection, actualization, care or growth of any kind. It can also make it hard to finally take the plunge and make a decision on which direction to ultimately take when it comes to many of life's decisions. It's healthy to take a step back in order to examine those expectations because often they can be self imposed, but also because they're toxic and can lead to both mental and physical complications due to stress. It's also important to step back in order to take stock of the skills, experiences and knowledge that you've gained and how they can be applied in this decision process. So many of life's junctions require us to adapt, grow and find new ways to overcome the challenges that lay before us. It's why it can be so hard to break cycles or make changes. Especially those cycles that take us out of our comfort zones. Meditate and think on what you want and how you can actualize that reality. This isn't an overnight process and everyone has their own methods and obstacles to overcome so there really is no "right" or "wrong" direction. And don't forget about those that helped get you to where you are. Those teachers and mentors that led the way! Personally it's been awhile since I've undertaken any formal education and it has been daunting trying to figure out which of my passions and skillsets I want to focus on. Or more specifically which could use a more formal education, because in reality they could all use some brushing up! In the end though, as always, I'm going with my gut and have applied to the Toronto Film School to study Graphic Design! I'm excited to continue on this path and excited for all that will come with it! Thanks for reading my #TedTalk and enjoy the rest of your week!
